TMZ acquired a hidden video of a drunken Depp abusing his wife. He definitely seems capable of trying to kill someone.
Problem I have with all of these public figures coming out and saying/doing this stuff is that they are legitimizing and triggering assassination attempts. Secret Service needs to come down hard...
Movie going/TV watching/song-buying public needs to shun them as well.

But his best work has been with Tim Burton. Between "Edward Scissorhands" and "Ed Wood," he's really great in "quirky" rolls. The original "Pirates of the Caribbean" was very well done as well, but his character got old really fast in the sequels.
All in all, he's really a terrific actor. A scumbag in real life, but a great actor.
