The US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley declared on Twitter that any chemical weapons attack by Bashar Assad's Syrian government on his own citizens "will be blamed on Assad but also on Russia and Iran who support him killing his own people." Haley's tweet ended with the words: "Stay tuned for more tomorrow." It followed a White House warning that Assad would pay a heavy price if he again resorted to chemical weapons against his own people. The US military believes the preparations are similar to those made before the April 4 chemical weapons attack......

The war mongering against Russia is in full swing tonight under the guise of Syria and "chemical weapons".

Nikki Haley, the UN Ambassador, continues the sabre rattling started by Sean Spicer earlier tonight.

Promoting Hillary’s foreign policy. And McCain’s. And Graham’s. This is not what Trump campaigned on.

The White House put out a statement earlier in the evening to the effect that ISIS is the reason for US military to be in Syria but the statement quickly moves onto the chemical weapons allegation and threatens harsh consequences if there is a chemical weapons attack.

What about them?

Islamic State came out of the jihadist forces fighting Assad backed by our long time ally Saudi Arabia along with Qatar and the Gulf Arabs. Those countries as you know are in a dispute with each other now? Part of the effort to stir up hostility to Iran?

IS and all the havoc it has created and terror etc. etc. is traceable to our Saudi-Arab allies and other parties who created the civil war in Syria.

The US is now cleaning up a mess our “friends” created or is it?

I’ve read stuff saying the IS forces in Raqaa are only surrounded on three sides and being given an escape route to the south.

Assad and his supporters like Iran, Russia etc. contend this allows IS units to escape and fight Syrian soldiers further south at a besieged town and air base.

Heck, they are claiming that Israel’s attacks in Golan over the weekend are in support of Al-Qaeda in the form of Jabhat al-Nusra, the Saudi created jihadist force fighting Assad in Syria.

I didn’t support DJT to see some war in Syria against Iran and Russia.

People voted for him because he was going to end U.S. involvement in this mess. Now it looks like he wants to repeat our “success” in Libya.

The deep state is willing to do whatever is necessary to bog down Trump in an unnecessary and stupid war. First the Russian collusion story didn’t work, now they need something else. There must be some deep ad very dark secrets they are desperately trying to keep from being unearthed.

The war mongering against Russia is in full swing tonight under the guise of Syria and "chemical weapons".

Here we go again with the hysterical "Trump is a neocon" garbage from the NeverTrump crowd.

President Trump has already demostrated that he's not interested in gratuitous escalation with Syria. US responses to Syrian provocations so far—both military and political—have been very measured and proportional—the epitome of restraint...

My hope is they have credible evidence of this and Trump is putting this out there to prevent something from happening because he doesn’t want to go to war.

My concern is that we know they have been pushing increased hostility with Russia with this narrative. They want to continue to up the rhetoric and add more sanctions as well as we have expanded troops in eastern Europe. We know Hillary Clinton wanted to get us into Syria and impose a no fly zone which could have lead to a war with Russia, but of course Trump won instead. Trump has given the military more free reign, and they have shot down a Syrian plane among other actions that could lead to escalation.

We know they lied about the WMD. I am skeptical over whether Assad did the last attack as it would have been a stupid move as he is winning. ISIS would like it if we attacked Syria as they are fighting ISIS.

These things make me worry because I would hate to get dragged into a conflict with Syria. If the evidence is credible, and this prevents Assad from acting, great. The problem is if it isn’t and rebel groups get their hands on these chemical weapons and make it look like the Syrian regime. This could lead to an attack on Syria by the U.S. Then, you have Nikki Haley saying she wants to then blame Russia and Iran. That could lead to WWIII over something not done by Assad.

Sorry to disappoint but most of us who you assume are never trumpers supported Trump. We also remember him saying he was going to get us out of Syria.

We took him at his word.
