Exactly, Presbyterian Reporter. If even 1 second was used on this kind of thing (and it likely certainly was) that took away from even one second on proper watchstanding protocols and bridge procedures, that is criminal.

This is appalling.

A “lesson plan” — remember when that was something teachers would prepare for going into their Algebra, Geometry, English, and History classrooms for the day’s instruction?

Now a “lesson plan” is prepared on how to force acceptance by normal people of psychosis, mental illness, deviance, and buggery.

Come on, Trump. End this BS once and for all. Now!

What the hell is going on?

I take Mattis at his word:

"I believe that right now, the policies that are in effect — unless the service chief brings something to me where there has been a problem that has been proven — then I'm not going in with the idea that I am going to review these and right away, start rolling something back."
Mattis

I believe he stated his position very shrewdly. When he hear's "there has been a problem" (which we all know there will be), then he will explore his options, develop the solution, and then act.

If the women are told to accept “men” in their showers, then the brass are acknowledging these transgenders are really men after all.

The tone of this article was well adapted to the subject, and is modeled (intentionally or unintentionally) after the approach that the Great Phyllis Schlafly used in single-handedly defeating the Equal Rights Amendment for the sham it was.

She used the approach of "Okay. You want to make activity 'X' a law. Let's consider that done. Now, I have a real scenario to present to you. Now that "X" is a law, how do you handle this specific scenario under "X"?

And this author, using a modification in which he answers the questions he asks provides and equivalently strong bang for the buck. (Two reasons he has to answer his own questions; it is an article, not a discussion, and many people who believe in this transgender/homosexualcrap have less imagination than a bag of hammers...the same people who, when engaging in a political demonstration today, cannot come up with anything more original than a 50 year old slogan "Hey, Hey, Ho, Ho...blah blah blah)

It is a modification of a Socratic approach in which you don't provide answers for people, you ask them questions and let them answer them. If done correctly, and you ask the correct questions, the person learns the appropriate lesson (in this case, that having transgender people in the military is insanity) by listening to their own logic.

Here is one of the many "questions" the author asks:

Bullets Don’t Care About Your Feelings
Regardless of one’s opinion about bathroom bills, this policy is dangerously misguided not because of politics or ideology, but as a matter of basic physics. Biology may not be destiny, as the slogan goes, but it still matters on the battlefield. An AK-47 round travels towards a soldier at 2,330 feet per second, no matter how you self-identify. A six-foot tall, 180-pound, anatomically male soldier can either pull his bodyweight over a wall, or carry another soldier, or walk for miles with 80 pounds of equipment, or he cannot.

But under the current policy, you are combat-ready if you self-identify as the type of person who would be combat-ready. How very millennial. Of course, the new policy raises other logistical issues as well. If “stability in the preferred gender” does not preclude ongoing hormone therapy, will these soldiers be deployable? Should estrogen cycles be flown into remote forward operating bases with other critical medical supplies? And if these soldiers cannot deploy alongside their units, is the policy truly serving its stated goal of availing the armed services with “all available talent to remain the finest fighting force the world has ever known”?"

And here is another one:

Watch My Genitals While I Urinate
The changes also affect drug-testing procedures. DoD Instruction 1010.16 requires urine specimens to be “collected under the direct observation of a designated individual of the same sex as the Service member providing the specimen.” To be blunt, “observers” must watch the urine sample leave the tested soldier’s body and enter the collection cup.

Under the new rules, however, “absent an exception to policy, the observer will be the same gender as the Soldier being observed (as reflected by the gender marker in DEERS).” The change is justified by interpreting the term “sex” in existing drug testing regulations to mean the same thing as “gender.” Lest there be any confusion: the policy means that an 18-year-old female soldier may be forced to drop her pants and urinate in a cup in front of an anatomically male non-commissioned officer who has a female “gender marker,” and vice versa."

Wonderful vignettes. Just wonderful. Unbelievable. I cannot believe I am reading or writing this.

I was at the Old North Bridge in Concord, MA on the 4th of July. It was interesting.

They had a guy in Colonial garb kind of killing time waiting for the other guy in Colonial garb who was going to read, and he was quizzing the crowd of perhaps 200-300, asking why the colonials declared independence.

The answers were usual, ‘Taxation without Representation’, but I know the real reason was ‘unfair representation’. And other transgressions, quartering troops, taking men back to England for trial, etc, all outlined in the Declaration.

He mentioned that the colonials were perceived as being treasonous, and he said “Who here wants to commit treason today?”

My hand involuntarily shot up, but...he didn’t follow up with any questions and the Declaration of Independence was read. If he had asked why I would commit ‘treason’, I would have said I was willing to commit ‘treason’ in the same spirit those men in April 1775 did, and for many of the same reasons.

When I see things like this, issues like this becoming a can kicked down the road by one bureaucracy after another until it becomes defacto law AGAINST THE WISHES OF THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS with NO RECOURSE, it makes me understand how our forefathers rebelled against what they saw as "unfair representation".

This is insanity.

The swamp at DoD is rising, not being drained at all. I see no indication of any draining from either Trump or Mattis. I am ashamed of the Army I served for a full career. For as far back as the Revolution, my family members and members of my wife’s family have served in the Army including every major war save the Mexican and Spanish wars. I do not have a son but would advise him to stay away from the military now. Its not the same honorable profession I knew.

By the way, Lorianne...thank you for posting this. It was a timely (June 30th implementation?) and well written exposition on this subject, which by its very nature is insanity, and in its analysis, common-sense (or should be)

This is why I use Free Republic. It is people like you who post timely and relevant threads on issues, and it is greatly appreciated.

Great article. Nice job.

psy·cho·sis
sīˈkōsəs/
noun
  1. a severe mental disorder in which thought and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with external reality.
"According to my opinion, and the opinions of many defectors of my caliber, only about 15% of time, money, and manpower is spent on espionage as such. The other 85% is a slow process which we call either ideological subversion, active measures, or psychological warfare. What it basically means is: to change the perception of reality of every American that despite of the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, their community, and their country.

It's a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages.

The first stage being "demoralization". It takes from 15 to 20 years to demoralize a nation. Why that many years? Because this is the minimum number of years required to educate one generation of students in the country of your enemy exposed to the ideology of [their] enemy. In other words, Marxism-Leninism ideology is being pumped into the soft heads of at least 3 generation of American students without being challenged or counterbalanced by the basic values of Americanism; American patriotism.

Most of the activity of the department [KGB] was to compile huge amount / volume of information, on individuals who were instrumental in creating public opinion.  Publisher, editors, journalists, uh actors, educationalists, professors of political science.  Members of parliament, representatives of business circles.

Most of these people were divided roughly into two groups:  those who would tow the Soviet foreign policy, they would be promoted to positions of power through media and public manipulation;  [and] those who refuse the Soviet influence in their own country would be character assassinated OR executed physically, come Revolution.  "

Women have served honorably in the military in many jobs including Army nurses and doctors who were much needed. My great aunt was an Army nurse in WWII who tended to thousands of injured and dying men with honor and distinction. I don’t think she would take to kindly to this new rule.

Definitely women have been, and are, critical in military service. This new rule sure does cross a line, though, doesn’t it?

This is disturbing to me on so many fronts. I thought I might relate an encounter I had a few years ago that drove home the point that the military has changed to the point it is no longer something to recommend to many young people.

I had the opportunity (and this was a couple of years ago now) to spend an evening with a former USMC and Air National Guard pilot who retired as a Col. after 28 years. He had flown combat in Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He had flown every fighter in the US inventory except for the F-22, and as I sat in his house looking at all the plaques on the wall, I could easily see this guy was Sierra Hotel. He’d gone to all schools, Top Gun, you name it. He had testimonials, pictures of him with famous people shaking hands, you could tell he made a mark.

He introduced me to his son, who was 16 years old at the time. He was an impressive looking kid, crewcut, very athletic build, the most notable thing about him was his bearing. He met me at the door when I arrived, very polite and well spoken. He was wearing a USMC T-shirt, and looked like he was already in the Marines.

I spent about 4 hours with this career aviator, who had just retired from the military and was at that time flying Boeing airliners to Japan. He was a devout Christian, and told me that he had tendered his resignation because of the pro-homosexual policies he saw coming down from above. He did confess to me that the decision was probably easier for him to make because he was closer to retirement, and that there were going to be many younger officers like him who were going to be forced to make a decision that wasn’t going to be nearly as easy as his because they still had much of their careers in front of them.

He told me that he had made some DVDs dealing with the subject, but never released them for public consumption. He talked to me about the homosexual agenda, and what their goals were. This man was not a bug eyed, spittle lipped fanatic. He was a well educated, religious man who spoke in even terms about this issue.

He spoke about his son. He said his son was trying to obtain an Olympic slot in judo, and had been preparing to join the Marines. He said that his son was very focused, and had his religion. His son stood off to the side as we spoke, listening intently to us, but not interrupting us. I must say that I was astonished that his son was only 16 years old. He seemed completely and totally mature and adult, in complete control of himself.

His father turned to his son and said “Tell him what you’re reading right now.”

His son said that he was reading a book named “The Book of Chivalry”. (This Is a Write up from Amazon.Com: The Book of Chivalry is the most pragmatic of all surviving chivalric manuals. Written at the height of the Hundred Years War, it includes the essential commonplaces of knighthood in the mid-fourteenth century and gives a close-up view of what one knight in particular absorbed of the medieval world of ideas around him, what he rejected or ignored, and what he added from his experience in camp, court, and campaign. Geoffroi de Charny was one of the quintessential figures of his age, with honors and praise bestowed upon him from both sides of the English Channel. He prepared the Book of Chivalry as a guide for members of the Company of the Star, a new but short-lived order of knights created by Jean II of France in 1352 to rival the English Order of the Garter. Elspeth Kennedy here edits the original French text of Charny and provides a facing-page translation for the modern reader. Richard. W. Kaeuper’s historical study places both man and his work in full context. In the formal themes that give Charny’s book structure, and in his many tangential comments and asides, this work proves a rich source for investigating questions about the political, military, religious, and social history of the later Middle Ages. With this translation, the prowess and piety of knights, their capacity to express themselves, their common assumptions, their views on masculine virtue, women, and love once more come vividly to life.)

I think this book would’ve been difficult reading for me, and I consider myself pretty well read and well spoken. His son expounded at length for about 10 min. on this book. Not once did he hem or haw, pause, say the phrases “uh”, “ahh”, “you know”. He talked about the concepts in the book, and how the core of the book was about caring for people who are weaker than you are, and that was what chivalry was really all about. It was astonishing. The 16-year-old kid seemed so mature and focused, I hadn’t really met a 16-year-old kid like him before.

His father told me (while his son was standing there) that his son was going to wait until he was married to engage in a sexual relationship. He then turned to his son and said something to the effect of “This is his choice of his own free will, not mine. We’ve talked about this at length, and he has told me how terrible it would be if I were to go out and engage in promiscuous relationships, and how ashamed he, as my son, would feel about my behavior. As an extension, he understands how will it affect him in our relationship if he were to engage in such behavior.” When I looked at his son, he looked easily at and said with no discomfort, shame or reticence “It’s true.”

His father turned to me and said “My son had been planning to join the Marines. He had been considering making a career of the military. He has decided, because of these policies towards homosexuality, that he is not going to enter the military.” His father continued “These people, running things, implementing these rules and policies, would have my son at their mercy. Just think of what people like that would do to a young man like him. No, I did not influence his decision in any way. But if he had asked my counsel, I would have advised him of exactly the same course.”

I was stunned and dismayed. I looked at this young man who seemed incredibly talented, exactly the kind of person we want in our military. Thoughtful, educated, principled and mature. If you never read the book “Once an Eagle” by Anton Myrer, this kid would likely have been a living embodiment of the main character in that book, a book that is routinely read at the military academies to teach leadership.

Our government is driving away the kind of people our military has had, and needs the most, to continue to be the best in the world, and instead is openly recruiting and attracting the exact opposite. Taking all of this in was devastating to me. I saw immediately the devastation that these kind of policies regarding homosexuality are going to have our military.
