I live in St Paul so Ive been hearing everything pretty quickly. Its come out that the officers made a trip around the area and found nothing and stopped. She then came up and pounded on the vehicle and the officer shot her. No clue on how accurate this is. Evidently the cops were in fear of an ambush.
so the question then may be whether it is wise to start pounding on a cop car in a dark alley knowing that they carry loaded weapons and should have been cognizant that cops in a cop car are sitting targets.
from the victim sympathetic viewpoint, does the cop have to be in fear of his life to shoot and can a woman pounding on the window be a credible life threatening situation?
from a legal standpoint, what would happen if a civilian was sitting in a car, someone pounded on the window, and i took out a gun and shot the person.
presuming no weapon on the scene, and that she pounded on the window approaching from behind, imho the lady was just dumb. imho the shooting officer may be guilty of manslaughter.
