I think getting rid of algebra in favor of math that applies to real life makes sense. Like if Tyrone needs to brick 50 Benjamin's before the club opens in 4 hours, how much heroin does he need to sell per hour if he cuts it 30% with 10 ounces of milk powder. Or, if a pimps ho is on 12th street then walks west to 5th for a dumpster trick at 4 mph, how long will it take for the bitch to start earnin’?

Math should be introduced much earlier and much more rigorously from now on to all American students. So-called minorities suffer in life from the lack of discipline in this area.
Ain’t nuthin wrong with their brains. Really.
So how much longer are we going to put up with this racist nonsense?

““What we’re saying is we want as rigorous a course as possible to determine a student’s ability to succeed, but it should be relevant to their course of study. There are other math courses that we could introduce that tell us a lot more about our students.””

Let me guess. They want to test them on black studies and lower the grade to pass.

The senator from New York, who worked for Johnson, senator Moynihan coined the term ‘dumbing down”....a group. This has metastasized to everyone in government schools thus dumbing down all students. This maneuver isn’t even subtle. We are rushing to mediocracy and failure. We are institutional designing failure.

A few months ago I saw a Texas Instruments calculator (A TI-Nspire CX) on clearance for only $50.

My math skills have been going down hill since the 1980s and I thought maybe this would be a way to begin re-acquiring them.

I got it out, charged it and tried to figure it out. There were no real instructions, I guess you have to get them off the internet.

Anyway, my 70 year old mind could not even start to figure it out. I do wish I could be a 14 year old kid again. I will just give it to my Grandson.

In an interview with the chancellor, NPR’s Robert Siegel pointed out the low graduation rate in the community college system (48% for an associate’s degree), and then asked Oakley if ditching algebra wasn’t just the “easy way out.”

They are implying that 100% of the 48% who drop out did so because of an algebra class? I don’t buy it.

In 2012, it was about money and laziness... Now it is Algebra? And we need to change requirements? Hmmm.

http://www.brighthub.com/education/college/articles/82378.aspx

Main Reason Students Drop Out of College:

Why is the number of dropouts so high? Granted, some students drop out because they’re too lazy to apply themselves, while others drop out because they really aren’t interested in obtaining a higher education and only enrolled to please their parents or because their friends were going to college. However, these students seem to be in the minority. According to a study conducted by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2009, the main reason students drop out of college is “because they need money for survival” (Allgov.com).

Drop it. Don’t allow them to learn it. Don’t give them that opportunity. If they learn, they might get out of poverty and they might advance. Then we won’t have a permanent, expanding underclass. And that’s unacceptable.

They shouldn’t drop it. Offer the remedial math necessary to build up to it. I aced all my math classes in college and all I had to begin with was a 9th grade education over 25 years before, prior to going to college. I enjoyed the algebra..fun puzzles, but I struggled with the college level algebra. I maintained a strait D average throughout the class. I struggled with the instructors approach, it didn’t work for me. Plus, I had a concussion from a car accident so my brain wasn’t wanting to do the arobics necessary to grasp it.

But I sought tutoring, worked hard, and pulled a B on the final exam.

I am not a math person as I struggled with it all my school years, but if I can do it, others can too. The just might need some prep and some tutoring. Intermediate was fairly easy. Got an A in that.

The mental gymnastics required for an older woman of less than highschool formal teaching is work with a capital W. But the satisfaction gained, as well as the additional skills was rewarding. By taking it away, they steal that reward and sense of accomplishment.

The real problem is lack of stimulation during the growing years. There seems to be a cultural instance on being dim whitted. Only a few really boost their kids to be hungry for learning, and stimulate them during those formative years.

If folks can’t handle college or university level classes, they simply don’t belong there. But don’t Rob those who can do it.

Once again a stupid person is worth more to them than a smart one, a smart one may not accept thier agenda if they are free thinkers unless they suffer from the same affliction, “mental illness”

In microcosm, this is what is wrong with the world today.

Gotta have algebra, calculus, chemistry, physics, biology. Got to.

With these in your armamentarium, you can dissect and refute a specious argument from a lib.

You must be able to do this in real time.

These subjects in bare but true form must be a part of your operating system.

Grammar, logic, and rhetoric also, to make a bulletproof argument with whatever issue you tackle with a lib or snowflake or gimmedat.

You must be able to snip up their arguments instantly, because they are being programmed with false narratives by people who really do know what they are doing, and who are trying to enslave you.

Must have all these tools in your toolkit. Or be a slave.

You have to market it correctly. Just announce that minorities are forbidden to take algebra since they have proven they can't handle it.

Doesn’t it seem strange that the black race finds it very hard to learn algebra, the white race has some difficulty with it and the yellow race excels at it?

Strange, strange indeed! I wonder why? On the other hand, I think I know why.
