My first thought too. So I looked it up. Amid the pork barrel outrage, funding was cancelled and the bridge was never built.
Raul Grijalva is the most effective representative that Mexico has in Congress.
2000 bucks a resident, just for living in the state. Build your own roads Alaska.
Probably through federal lands. The Feds own most of the property up there just like they do here in the west. That’s why we have such devastating fires each year, they don’t know how to take care of it
Build it. No one will ever notice from DC.
I think the state wants to. Feds said no.
I’m sorry, I guess I missed the “Roads” clause in the Constitution. A state matter or even local, IMHO. It’s like moving in next to an airport then complaining about the noise. Was there a road there when they moved in?
Ok, I see Fed land is involved. Still, my question about moving in stands. Why doesn’t Alaska try eminent domain with a 10th Amendment twist?
Why did the Democrats prevail? Since they control the House, don’t Republicans have majorities on all committees and subcommittees? Republicans in Congress need to learn how to win.
Correct you are. I looked it up too, but didn’t read far enough. DOH!
Ask forgiveness, not permission. Times have changed in DC. The important thing will be if all vendors got paid.
I’m sure lisa murknowsky will come to the rescue of her constituents.
That is because it is not an article, it is the post of a Freeper who watched this take place on C-Span.
I agree, build a mosque and then scream Islamophobia and racism. An interstate will appear.
Alaska is fly-over country, i.e. not important.
Nikki has Lowell and Lawrence in her district. Talk about a dual sewer.
Bill allowing a road from King Cove to Cold Bay passes US House
Thanks, that puts more perspective to the post for sure.
The “Bridge to Nowhere” was never built. It is a similar situation - it would link the main airport of SE Alaska to the nearby town of Ketchikan. One needs to get on a small ferry to get between the two now.
Since they are Aleutians they should file a discrimination suit and watch how fast the Democrats fund the project, and then tip off the fake news organizations that it was Republicans who had stood in the way for decades denying these poor Aleutians a life saving road.
