If you want to argue it is idealism to expect the AG to be independent, go ahead. You get the government you deserve, and the American people deserved to preceding AGs because they voted for their POTUS. Personally, I see room for a constitutional amendment removing the AG from POTUS nomination. But the American people should expect an AG to operate from a framework of ethics, and not be a hatchet man for POTUS.
If Trump wants to fire the mother scooter, then he should stop being a pussy and do it. But his childish approach of publicly humiliating a man without cause is straight BS. We deserve better representation.
It's generally accepted as common knowledge that Jeff Sessions did not inform the President in advance of his decision to recuse.
Whether that is an express or implied fact may be debatable, but immediately after the recusal happened, I seem to recall the President saying he was "caught by surprise", or words to that effect. Thus, it's reasonable to infer that the President was broadsided, and, if I'm not mistaken, he indicated that at the time.
Furthermore, in the recent NYT interview, the President unambiguously stated that Jeff Sessions made no mention of recusing himself before taking the AG position. That's a problem in and of itself, and I see no reason for Sessions not to have mentioned it—especially given the fact that it might very well have influenced the President's nomination decision.
I'm not aware of what the evidence is regarding the day Sessions actually did recuse himself, and maybe everyone is being presumptive, but all indications are that the President was not consulted—or even notified—before the AG made his announcement. Common courtesy dictates that Sessions should have forewarned the President. Indeed, if any such notification had occurred, we very likely would have heard by now about the President advising—or even requesting—that the AG not recuse himself.
Let's not forget that, additionally, Jeff Sessions also failed to disclose his meeting with the Russian Ambassador (Lavrov was his name, I believe) on his "security questionnaire", or whatever they call it. That's a rather significant lapse—even if it was innocent—and one which caused further embarrassment to the President.
I'm unaware of the precise time frame for that notification to the President either, but it certainly demonstrates that Jeff Sessions is capable of gross carelessness, if not intentional deception.

Sessions isn’t taking the earlier hints and resigning gracefully - it would be awkward for Trump to fire him and replace him with someone who has a spine and who would handle the Mueller debacle properly. Trump is clarifying the message so even an idiot can grasp what he wants.
Chain of events would force Sessions to do anything only if he was gutless enough to submit.

Right. If he fires Sessions or if Sessions resigns who in the world would want to replace him and if someone qualified does stand up how in the world would the President get them through the Senate? Many in the Senate GOP already hates his guts and going after 'one of their own' won't win him any new friends in THAT swamp.
I really wish this would stop. It's the first time I've felt like this about anyone the President has called out. I support his tweeting and his style is his style. I don't mind that at all but these constant attacks on Jeff Sessions are over the top and damaging to the President. Unless there's something else going on that we don't know about...
I think it's too early to tell. Notice the majority of remarks on FR fully support firing Sessions, and many (not most) think Sessions deserves the public berating.
The chips will fall where they do. Trump, like the rest of us, has to deal with reality. In his case, that reality includes public perception, whether the perception is accurate or not.
I'm just talking about how things play out. I agree with your take, Trump is playing with fire. The people who find his argument and delivery to be negative, for the most part aren't talking much. Why bother?
We couldn’t disagree more about Sessions. The person you report to is your boss, period. Sessions reports to Trump. That means Sessions is not a maverick who gets to do anything he wants. Rather, his priorities should reflect the administration’s priorities, or he should look for another job.
Trump didn’t campaign on cracking down on marijuana or increasing civil asset seizures. He DID campaign on draining the swamp. Sessions is giving the swamp a wide birth while making it easier for the government to seize private property absent even charges being filed, much less a trial.
There is no integrity in pursuing personal hobby horses while the swamp destroys Trump and his family. That is the opposite of integrity. Sessions is fiddling while the real criminals in the deep state burn the Trump administration to the ground. He should resign—the sooner the better.
That was a good summary. I’m not buying the, ‘Sessions is above reproach,’ line. There’s no possibility that he ‘just forgot,’ the Lavrov meeting. He conveniently ‘forgot’ it—at Trump’s expense.
That would be Comey, not Mueller. And I agree that Trump had all the authority in the world to fire Comey.
Then why did he enlist the help of Sessions and Rosenstein?

Sessions went to the ethics committee and was advised to recuse himself. That's the end of the issue, let the chips fall where they may. But DJT is being a dick.
Sessions put Trump in the worst possible position by lying about his Russian contacts. He screwed Trump from start to finish. If he wanted the job bad enough to lie for it, he wanted it too much and for the wrong reasons.

According to Breitbart, it was Sessions who pushed for Rosenstein as Deputy:

It’s a powerful position.”’
I agree. I am getting upset with his accusations against Sessions and I am a supporter big time of Trump!!
If you're going to suggest that President Trump nominated someone for this post without knowing anything about him, I'm not sure that speaks well of him at all. LOL.
