Functionally how will this work?
If you are a man living in a female barrack, will you be given the choice to identify with your birth sex or you are out? Will you be given a chance to sign up with the correct regiment? Are women and men mixed in the same regiments anyhow?

I was reading on Reddit about sex-change regret and it (unfortunately) detailed some of the gory details involved in making the change.
If you actually go thru the procedures it talked about, you will be completely unable to serve in any capacity whatsoever....and yes, it was pretty gross stuff.
I don’t personally care if it saves any money, and it can be tackled in Obamacare separately at some point.
I care about military effectiveness, saving lives, and winning engagements/battles/wars.
And that will save money. Nothing is as expensive as defeat.
Great news - we taxpayers have been funding hormone therapies and surgeries for these mentally ill people for too long. We even paid in full Bradley Manning’s treatment while he was in prison for being a traitor.

Yes, great news. Transgenderism is a mental disorder and should be treated like it. We cannot have folks in the military battling their own demons when trying to battle Americas. We need to call it like it is.
Furthermore, homosexuality is a mental disorder as well. Doesn’t mean we should trample their rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but we shouldn’t act as if it is normal. It is not.
It is against God, but even if you didn’t believe in God, it is against natural law. If anyone disputes this fact, present them with another. If all of civilization decided to turn to homosexuality rather than natural relations, that civilization will after a period of time cease to exist thus halting all homosexuality. Pretty simple really.
