@cmj328 This is why the Union had to go on the offensive even if Lincoln had ignored Sumter being swiss-cheesed. It wouldn’t have been a year before we were fighting over the territories out west. And they were already trying to make deals with foreign nations, notably England.
Californication would be signing on the dotted line with all kinds of leftist-tyrant nations faster than you could say “gulag” because unlike the South they have an insane debt problem. Also they would not even be able to feed themselves. So we’d likely have either a protectorate of a hostile foreign nation or a failed state that was ripe for infiltration/takeover of a hostile foreign nation. Not a good situation either way.
