These gubmint workers will be the ones surprised the most when Illin’ noise goes belly up and no longer pays their income and pensions.
My property taxes in a Chicago suburb are now $24,000 more than doubled in twelve years. So about 6% increase per year. And sales tax is now 11 percent. And of course even with that, the budget is not balanced.
Boy are they in for a rude awakening when the music stops ... again.
This is why I don’t buy the “Rauner’s a fiscal conservative” nonsense. Leaders lead by example. Not only has Rauner done nothing to shrink the size of the executive branch (and yes, he can downsize his own staff without going through the General Assembly), but he’s actually enlarged it numerous times and created new cushy government jobs out of thin air for his cronies, and paid them the kind of six figure salaries that would even make Pat Quinn blush.
This is a governmental coordinated scheme to redistribute wealth to the left.
63,000 * 100,000 = 63 billion?
Is the story saying they’re worth only $53 billion?
Maybe the university professors bring in $53 billion in research grants, and the cost to the taxpayers is only $10 billion?
You are paying the bribe money for the gov’t workers to vote for the democrats.
As close to perpetual motion as you can get. Government pay raises. Their study of surrounding localities comparable employee pay always results in raises all around. Like compounded interest.

BIG GOVERNMENT is CRONY SOCIALISM
IL cant pay lottery winners, but a city parking lot supervisor get 100K+ a year ,,

Tax payers are merely blood bags for the parasites to feed upon.
Decades upon decades of liberal Democrat socialist rule is the common denominator of the failed and failing states in this Republic.
