What am I missing?
He looks like a felon to me.
Was he in the country illegally?
bingo....it wasnt a DUI...he was convicted of AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ..injured a guy named Daniel Schnooer....read the comments...some guy found his case file...so so busted.
All I have to say is GO BACK TO MEXICO.
Poor baby...
felony aggravated assault...some guy in the comments found his file. Zero credibilty..he lied.
Figured there was more to the story. Thanks.
Yesterday I was watching a 'Cold Case Files' TV show about the murder of a police officer. The prime suspect had an extensive record but was very adept at covering himself. Many years after the murder, this suspect was arrested in Arkansas, convicted and given a long sentence. In the meantime, the cold case investigator found some new evidence and traveled to interview the suspect now serving time in Arkansas.
After several interviews, the Arkansas prisoner finally asked, "If I cooperate with you, will you get me transferred to your state to serve both sentences?" (He really wanted to get off the Arkansas chain gangs) So, he admitted to killing the police officer and was sentenced to 40 years in the state the crime was committed. He was transferred and happy to get off the Arkansas chain gang. In his new incarceration, all he had to do was eat 3 meals, sleep and walk around the exercise yard a bit.
Sorry, but I do not remember the state with the 'cushy' prison life.
Francisco claims that he spent a year in jail for first offense drunk driving? I don’t believe that.
And we all know how nice and comfortable Mexican jails are rumored to be. /s
From the comments at the end of the article:

Poster Don Burns below is to be commended for doing his homework.
It appears that Mr. Chairez was sentenced to hard time for the felony aggravated assault, not for “getting drunk” because of a “bad relationship”.
http://www.courtminutes.maricopa.gov/docs/Criminal...
In other words, he apparently lied in his opinion-piece, and the Washington Post, driven insane by its Trump hatred, failed to “vet” Mr. Chairez’s fantastical and apparently dishonest claim, all in an effort to “advance the agenda”.
For shame Mr. Charirez! For shame Washington Post!”
I now see in the comments that it wasn’t drunk driving at all. Like most things in the Bezos Wash Post, it was all lies.
I read the OP twice. Just says “I was born in Mexico, grew up in Tijuana, and moved to Arizona when I was 14.”
My take would be yes his family was/is illegal.
Francisco makes all this sound like it’s a bad thing? Did this illegal POS think he was entitled to a suite at the Hilton?
See post 53—he was sentenced to time for assault, not drunk driving.
WAPO lies again.
All these Mexicans have excuses why they drink and drive. I thought liberals are so against drunk driving. I have zero sympathy for this criminal.
“undocumented” means “Illegal”
“....grew up in Tijuana, and moved to Arizona when I was 14.”
Gee, he kind of left out some of his bio here.. The part about committing the felony by crossing the border illegally....
