Just finished watching “Designated Survivor”.

Your assessment was accurate throughout the program in each installment.

The ending was chuck full of trashing statements which could be termed as a real attack on the right in this nation.

The president did a number of traditional Democrat things, introducing and pushing through increased gun background checks, and attempting to get a NATO consensus to destroy some of our 200 nukes in Europe despite the fact Russia was acknowledged to have as twice as many as us already.

Although climate was brought up, they didn’t capitalize on it. Perhaps the producers realized that is a seriously flawed effort.

At any rate, I watch things like this even when they don’t go my way at times, because of interesting plot lines and ideas I may not have known about.

The production was pretty well done, despite the negative connotations. There were some plot lines in there that were new to me, and I was glad to have observed them.

In loose terms, what Trump is going through right now could be compared to some parts of what this compromised president had to deal with. Some of those dynamics were interesting and revealing.

Take care.

I find this quote interesting ... (from a different article). He first defends action not to evacuate and then says "we've never seen water like this before". :-) It's not all or nothing. They could have evacuated areas that traditionally flood as well as nursing homes etc.

Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, the area’s top emergency official and a Republican, bristled at criticism that the city should have evacuated.

“To suggest we should have evacuated two million people is an outrageous statement,” he said.

“What we’re facing now is an effort to respond to a tragedy.…We’ve never seen water like this before.”

I would like the option of evaluating my own risks vs. being “ordered” to evacuate. Emptying huge swaths of people opens it all up into a “shopping” mall for those who take advantage of disasters and, unless you have ever been involved in a mass exodus due to such (think 4 lanes of parking lot for a hundred miles with no way to get out gracefully and no place to put up for a night or maybe even get food/gas because, like locusts, those who preceded you got first choice) it may sound sensible but it brings its own nightmares and risks.
