Under the Posse Comitatus act the President has the discretion to use the Armed Forces to enforce federal law.
The president can therefore use the Armed Forces to enforce Federal Immigration law and he can also use the Armed Forces to prevent an invasion by foreigners (which is his constitutional duty, BTW).
