You like zello. I get it it.

But there is a catch and my point for those who think it’s reliable in a big disasters. Zello REQUIRES Internet using either WiFi or cellular data network of at least 2G. And it major disasters, this stuff is some of the first to go down. It’s not a secret.

For about 150 bucks, one can own their very own, portable, all band general coverage receiver. That’s pretty cheap insurance for arguably the best source and most reliable communications out there. To me, it’s simply a no brainer.

For those in hurricane and earthquake country, there is nothing more reliable.

Is it just me? Or does the storm seem to be going a bit east? Orlando maybe?

Per my local weather station, winds gusts where I live (Seminole County) 5 miles from Orlando at 85 mph. Getting brisk.

I don’t think he said that.

I think he was mocking what the alarmists were saying.

Like it or not, the smartphones won the consumer gadget war.

They might win the gadget war with consumers, but I'm not competing in some gadget war, and I can assure you, I'll be up when they're down.☺ That's what it's about for me.

If you're in North Carolina, heads up, in case it re-emerges in the Atlantic.

So far the power only flickered once... but would not be surprised if it went down soon.

Oh dear! Shep and Fox reporters were counting on it!

Seriously, this was a big “for sure” prediction. Have there been ANY surges? Why would it happen in Tampa, if not in Naples? Or, have they cancelled the Tampa surge, also?

GREAT news if no flooding!(from the surge)

The dire storm surge warnings have not materialized along the Florida west coast. (thank goodness) MSNBC is questioning the accuracy of the warnings, and all the ensuing citizen panic. I suggest calling Rush Limbaugh who has some opinions about weather hype.

Personally, if my Tampa home did NOT flood, I'd be happy as hell, even if I evacuated. IMHO, the storm center began passing over land north of Marco Island, which means there was a less powerful wind, with less storm over less water than if it had stayed on the coast. Thus, minimized surge.

Fort Pierce has gotten more than 15 inches, the most of any location in Florida, even though they have been far from the center of the storm.

Pretty sure South Florida is going through a major disaster and there’s 1550 people on the South Florida Hurricane Channel, and 1100 people on the Hurricane Irma channel.

Enjoyed the conversation.

Melbourne, Vero, Ft. Pierce etc have had 40 to 50 mph winds with gusts to 70. Heavy rain with local flooding, major power outages. Lightning etc.
