If Trump doesn’t deal on DACA, some Democrats threaten a government shutdown

Some House Democrats are raising the specter of withholding support for must-pass spending legislation later this year in response to President Trump’s hard-line immigration proposals — meaning the fate of roughly 690,000 younger undocumented immigrants could become a major factor in negotiations to keep the government open after December.

Democrats on Monday dismissed Trump’s calls to construct a wall along the entire length of the U.S.-Mexico border, crack down on “sanctuary cities” and seek ways to curb Central American migrants from illegally crossing into the country. But conservative Republicans insisted that such issues must be addressed before Congress considers offering legal status to immigrants brought to the country illegally as children, a group known as “dreamers.”

The prospective standoff is the latest hurdle in the years-long struggle on Capitol Hill to reach an accord on reforming the nation’s immigration policy. The administration’s lengthy list of demands dampened growing optimism among lawmakers from both parties that they could strike a deal to protect recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), the Obama-era work program for “dreamers” that Trump announced last month he would terminate.

Hahaha…that’s some threat, you morons. Texas’s legislature only meets every other year and gets five times more done than the slugs in D. C. And we have much more money in the bank.

Gosh, too bad the GOP does not control both houses of Congress.

Time to dump Jug Ears and The Turtle and give us some real leadership in Congress.

Doesn’t the government shut down 2 days a week every week as well as shutting down on a generous holiday schedule?

And doesn’t Congress and the Senate shut down over a hundred days a year?

Shut it down and DO NOT pay congress and senate members or staffers for the days it is shut down. Do not pay for any of their residences or incidental costs they run up.

As soon as Sheila Jackson Lee has to buy her own grape drink, or Maxine Waters has to put her wig on by herself they will change their tune.

If the Dems need him, MCConnell is a reliable sellout too.

A shutdown could be just what Gillespie needs to win, after all, it worked for McAuliffe in 2013.

“Dems plus McCain, Collins, and a spiteful Corker would have a majority.”

My thoughts too. I can see this happening. It would give the Rats Senate control for over a year at least. Sadly It would not make a difference for legislation but it would impact the Judiciary.

They think they can put blame on reps when/if they shut it down. Let’s see if it still works like it did with the spineless swamp dwellers.

A good response would be to start throwing their illegal asses out by the thousands.

It's a shame we can't send an adult family member or 10 with them; the ones responsible for them being here in the first place.

No doubt the SJW in them would call this a white supremacist KKK thing to say because that's all they have; name calling with the occasional lock on a chain to the head but that will soon change.

Do they REALLY want to get into a PR war with President Trump?

“Dems plus McCain, Collins, and a spiteful Corker would have a majority.”

A majority of what? A liberal part of the government that shuts down social security for the aged and disabled? Same group shuts down schools and food programs for the poor. Same group shuts down medical assistance for the ill? Same group shuts down funding to assist the power and water companies throughout the US? Same group that will shut down the military for our protection?

Same group that will not get re-elected the next time they run after harming so many citizens to protect illegal aliens in and protected by taxpayer funds that aren’t supposed to be here and are using those funds for schooling and jobs our citizens can’t get?

As Trump might say, “I love it when a plan comes together.”

So if the libs open their mouths a little wider, they can get the other foot in there too. Liberals is soooo stupid.
