US to pull out of UNESCO amid Palestinian tensions

PARIS (AP) — U.S. officials have told The Associated Press that the United States is pulling out of UNESCO, after repeated criticism of resolutions by the U.N. cultural agency that Washington sees as anti-Israel.

While the U.S. stopped funding UNESCO after it voted to include Palestine as a member in 2011, the State Department has maintained a UNESCO office at its Paris headquarters and sought to weigh in on policy behind the scenes. The withdrawal was confirmed Thursday by U.S. officials speaking on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to be publicly named discussing the decision. It was not clear when the move would be formally announced.

The decision comes as the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization is voting to choose a new director this week, in tense balloting overshadowed by the agency’s funding troubles and divisions over Palestinian membership.

Many saw the vote to include Palestine as evidence of long-running, ingrained anti-Israel bias within the United Nations, where Israel and its allies are far outnumbered by Arab countries and their supporters.

UNESCO is best known for its World Heritage program to protect cultural sites and traditions around the world. The agency also works to improve education for girls in desperately poor countries and in scientific fields, to promote better understanding of the horrors of the Holocaust and to defend media freedom, among other activities.

The Trump administration has been preparing for a likely withdrawal for months, and a decision was expected before the end of the year, according to U.S. officials. Several diplomats who were to have been posted to the mission this summer were told that their positions were on hold and advised to seek other jobs.

This is great news! Not only is it the right thing to do, but it’s a slap in the face to the Muslims who dominate UNESCO, and it’s a signal to Trump’s loyalists that he is not afraid to tell the world to go straight to hell.

In addition, the Trump administration’s proposed budget for the next fiscal year contains no provision for the possibility that UNESCO funding restrictions might be lifted.

Remember when Trump complained about the amount of money we give to the UN and how it's used? It looks like we won't be giving any money to UNESCO anytime soon.

>>>This is great news!<<<

Expect great blessings from God that He has been withholding due to our de jure support of Palestine.

FLASHBACK:

New York, October 31, 2003 (c-fam.org/LifeSiteNews.com) - A UNESCO (UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) document, entitled “Unwanted Pregnancy and Unsafe Abortion,” calls for sweeping government reform to make abortion available to all women and adolescent girls without restriction, going as far as to suggest that governments should subsidize abortions and offer “redress” to women who have been “denied” access to abortions “that should be made available to them.”  The document, which was produced in 2002 by UNESCO’s Thailand-based Regional Clearing House on Population Education and Communication (RECHPEC), has recently come to light after it was referenced in the UN Population Fund’s State of the World Population 2003 report, which was released this month.  The UNESCO document explicitly recommends that “Governments should make abortion legal, safe, and affordable.” UNESCO appears particularly concerned about adolescents’ access to abortion, recommending that “Legislatures should remove legal restrictions to access of abortion and family planning services to adolescents” and that “Wherever the law allows, Governments should guarantee the privacy of those seeking abortion services, especially adolescent women.” UNESCO also recommends that, “Where abortion is allowed, the legal system should provide means of redress for those denied access to the services that should be made available to them,” without explaining what type of redress it has in mind.  UNESCO takes aim at parental consent laws, stating that, “It is common, for instance, to require adolescents to obtain parental consent for abortion services…This alone can dissuade an adolescent from seeking a proper medical procedure and leave them to seek alternative, illegal and unsafe abortions elsewhere.”

This year we find out they want to promote sex change and abortion for kids. Material for adolescents said those with HIV shouldn’t be forced to disclose to a sexual partner (just like California!):

That’s unicef right? Haven’t seen them since the 70’s.

I’ve heard those little quarter donation cardboard cutouts at POS registers give the majority of it’s money to the Palestinians. Has had the same picture of a little girl with leukemia for decades now.

Keep charity local. No need to be donating to overseas countries as you really don’t know where the money is going and what it’s used for.

The liberals are melting down saying we are losing our leadership on the world stage. We didn’t lose it from 1987-2003, and we won’t now. Not only are they anti-Israel, but they also promote abortion, sex change for kids, etc.
