The Islamic State group once drew recruits from near and far with promises of paradise but now bodies of jihadists lie in mass graves or at the mercy of wild dogs as its "caliphate" collapses.

Flies buzz around human remains poking through the dusty earth in the Iraqi town of Dhuluiyah, 90 kilometres (55 miles) north of Baghdad, at a hastily-dug pit containing the bodies of dozens of IS fighters killed in 2015.

Well, this is a slippery slope. If we discuss religion too much, we will descend into eternal flaming.

Let’s stick with politics. It’s banal, even though it’s important, but people can agree on more aspects of it than theology, and disagree less vociferously about it than the Big Questions raised in theological inquiry.

Lol. I voted for Trump and love the guy.

You obviously think I think that Obama destroyed ISIS.

No. ISIS was destroyed by mostly non American forces, and while Trump had some part to play ISIS was already 100% on the path to loss before Trump was sworn in. Not because of Obama.

I swear some people around here have a very basic grasp of English reading comprehension.

No, debunked here.

The term Allah (Arabic: الله, Allāh) is the standard Arabic word for God and is most likely derived from a contraction of the Arabic article al- and ilāh, which means "deity or god" to al-lāh meaning "the [sole] deity, God." There is another theory that traces the etymology of the word to the Aramaic Alāhā.

Today's Arabic speakers from all religious backgrounds (Muslims, Christians, and Jews) use the word Allah to mean God. In pre-Islamic Arabia, pagan Meccans used Allah as a reference to the creator-god, possibly the supreme deity.

The first-known translation of the Bible into Arabic, which took place in the 9th century, uses the word Allah for God (1). In fact, Arab Christians were using the word Allah for God prior to the dawn of Islam, and it is important to note that they were using it in place of Elohim, but not in place of Yahweh. That means Allah is a generic word for God, but not the personal name of God. (Radical Muslims in the West claim that Allah, not Yahweh or any other Bible name, is the name of the one true God.)

“Trump did’t have much to do with their demise.”

BS. Obama was protecting them from annihilation. He only allowed limited minor attacks and called off most of those.

Trump, however, ordered ISIS to be destroyed. Our bombings and attacks have been wiping them out.

“Ferris is correct that the current ‘allah’ being worshipped is really Satan. The acts and atrocities done in the name of the Islamic ‘god’ are the most evil on the planet.”

I agree. My only point is to advocate caution about insulting the title of the true God. Muslims do not know the true God. And the Islamic jihadists are serving Satan, even if they say they are serving God. This is no reason to insult God.

“I don’t follow your logic at all.”

“Jesus” is the English word Christians use to identify Jesus Christ. We refer to the Creator as “God.” “God” and “Jesus” are exclusively English words. In other languages, billions of people identify as Christian but most do not use these words for God or Jesus. It would be wrong for those who do not speak English to insult the name of Jesus or God because of some phony Christian cult that did evil things. For example, let’s suppose some “Christian” cult had missionaries in Asia and they were kidnapping and selling children into slavery. Obviously, these people would not truly represent Jesus. But we would take offense if the news forums there said hateful and disgusting things against “Jesus” because of what these people did.

If the Asian people there said that these people did not serve God or Jesus, but the Devil, we would agree. But if they said “Jesus is the Devil” we would disagree.

Your experience is that everyone who calls God “Allah” is a wicked person. But you should be aware that Arabic speaking Christians and Jews call God “Allah.” Jews have been living in Arabic speaking lands since before the time of Christ.

God, the one true God, was called “Allah” long before Islam existed or even the English title for God existed.

“Even in Pre-Islamic Arabia, all variations of ‘Allah’ were pagan. None of those peoples worshipped the one and true God. In fact, there is more evidence that ‘allah’ is really Ba’al.”

You are simply wrong about this. God is the one who divided the nations and languages. This is under His divine power and control. And He has always preserved a witness to Himself in every language. Every language has a word for God. It is instinctive for all people everywhere to know there is a God.

Arabic speaking Jews lived in these regions since before the time of Christ. The Christian Gospel was preached to them beginning on the very day the church began. Just because many people practice false religion and idolatry does not mean that no true worshippers exist. That assertion is demonstrably false.

The Biblical support for this is limitless. This is not some simple proof-text or opinion. It is a Biblical fact. Those who disagree are simply ignorant. And the solution to that is learning. We don’t get to invent the facts or history because of our own personal preferences, like, dislikes, hates, etc. Approaching knowledge of these matters this way is a type of psychosis. This is reality. It is not what we prefer things to be like, but the way they are. The fact is that a huge religion has formed around misrepresenting God by invoking His correct Arabic title of “Allah.”

God has PROMISED to redeem to Himself a chosen and saved people out of EVERY language and nationality. This includes Arabic speaking people. This includes people out of every predominantly Muslim nation. He is is in charge. Not Satan. Not the Islamists. God is in charge.

The title for God in Arabic is, was, and has always been in recorded history, “Allah.” The evidence that supports this is that the written Bible of Arabic speaking Christians and Jews always identify God as “Allah.” You can not find a single, solitary, historical example of the scriptures being translated into Arabic in some other way.

The Koran has numerous references to Christians and Jews. Muhammad was very familiar with the monotheism represented by the Christians and religious Jews. The Koran never mentions some other title for God that Christians and Jews were using rather than “Allah.” This makes it very obvious that Islam did not borrow the title of God from some moon-worshipping cult. He used the same title that all Arabic speakers, including Christians and Jews, were using, which is “Allah.”

Revelation 7:9-10
After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

There are Arabic speaking Christians who have watched their children murdered and then be murdered themselves rather than renouncing Jesus and His Father, who we call “God”, but they (the faithful Christians) call “Allah” just like the ones who murdered them.

The Jews, such as Paul (who was Saul before becoming a Christian himself), who killed the Christians of the early church also claimed to be followers of God. They used the same word for God as the ones they were killing. Just because people misrepresent God, does not justify insulting and blaspheming God.

Knowing that God has promised to save Arabic speaking people, Christians need to face the reality that the Gospel must be preached to them in their language. And that Gospel is going to have to refer to God by His correct Arabic title which is “Allah.” If that is not the case, then please tell me how the Gospel must be preached to Arabic speakers.

Are you going to claim that the Arabic speaking Christians who were martyred for their faith by ISIS were not real Christians because they used the Arabic word for God? Would you demand that God not let these martyrs into Heaven because they did not comply with English-speaking westerners who insists they must use some non-Arabic title for God such as “YHWH, Elohim, or Adonai?” Did you have to learn some Greek and Hebrew before you could become a Christian? Or did God receive you as an English speaker who knew Him as God and His Son as Jesus Christ?

The importance of understanding that the Gospel is to ALL people of every language and nation is ESSENTIAL to the Gospel. It is non-negotiable. No one has to convert their nationality or language to be receive by God.

Oh, so you’re saying that American forces are 100% responsible for ISIS being cornered?

Really? Really?

ISIS was being fought long before Trump was sworn in.

Must be that infinity level chess Trump plays.

I’m done arguing.

“I thought the Bible made it clear that Angels did not have free will.”

That’s funny. There are a few things that are very clear in the Bible. And there are many things that are very difficult to understand. But I would not even begin to know where such an idea of angels having no free will originated.

“Then Satan and his Angel pals were created for the purpose of being a antagonistic force.”

Impossible. God is not the author of evil.

How would God hold anyone accountable for actions for which they are not responsible, but He is?

It is because we and angels ARE accountable for our actions that they carry moral weight.

Would a just God cast Satan into a place of torment forever because Satan did exactly what God made him to do?

No, that’s not how facts work. That’s how psychosis works. But facts get in the way of things being however we prefer to imagine them.

No, but since you think I did, you really should back to school and take the 3rd grade because your reading comprehension sucks.

While other nations had been fighting ISIS, Russia being the primary one, Obama wasn’t fighting ISIS. The US didn’t start wiping them out until Trump ordered it.

“ISIS was already cornered in Raqqa when Trump was sworn in by mostly non-American forces”

So, it took since January until just a ay ago to wipe them out?? That’s right. ISIS only surrendered in Raqqa two days ago. The US lead that assault against them, an assault only allowed since Trump ordered it.

You should really stop getting your news from the islamic Al Jazeera news agency.

“If we discuss religion too much, we will descend into eternal flaming. Let’s stick with politics.”

I understand. I’ve had my share of those threads. Sometimes people feel compelled to persuade others to their view. I can relate, as I have a passion for the truth. But the reality is that at some point persuasion can turn into coercion. And a person’s faith is not real if it is coerced. And, to me, this is the worst aspect of what drives modern-day jihad. It basically justifies nearly any action in order to force people to change their beliefs. Regardless of one’s faith, I think nearly everyone can see the poetic justice of what is happening to ISIS.

As opposed to the leaflet dropping method used by Obama.
One thing for certain Trump did cut down on the ISIS military parade season.

“I’d like to point out you’re using the Koran for part of your proof-text.”

Do you really believe what you just posted?

The existence of the Koran is simply an observable fact.

Nothing in any of my posts AGREES with the Koran.

So that’s not using it as a proof text.

If you claim to be a follower of Jesus, then you should recognize that He died for Arabic speaking people, people born in Islamic-controlled nations like Iraq, and even those who are part of false religious systems like Islam.

You are privileged to not be among these groups. But don’t you consider that they need to hear about Jesus? Do you believe that they can only come to Jesus if they first learn English or immigrate to the US?

I think you know better but have just not thought through your position.
