The number of foreign workers getting work permits for U.S. jobs will hit 2 million this year, partly because President Donald Trump’s deputies have reduced only a few of President Barack Obama’s foreign-worker programs and policies.
Roughly 2 million foreigners will get temporary work permits, dubbed “Employment Authorization Documents,” or EADS, during 2017, despite administration efforts to cut back some of the many business-backed foreign-worker programs, according to two sets of data released by the Department of Homeland Security.
“This is almost entirely outside of our legal immigration and legal guest-worker system — these are additional workers,” said Jessica Vaughan, a policy expert at the Center for Immigration Studies. “The majority of these [EAD] work permits are given to people who originally entered the country illegally and now have some kind of exception being made for them, either on a temporary base or while they apply for some other benefit,” she added.
The new data shows that 1.6 million work-permit EADs were given out during the first nine months of the government’s 2017 accounts. That puts the number on track to break 2 million, partly because an extra rush of people applied for DACA amnesty work permits in September and early October.

Sympathy goes to all those experienced engineers and all the recent graduates with those expensive education bills that now have to compete against discount imports.

That would work out fine if taxes were paid and welfare rolls cleared/cleaned up.
Work permit...you can work, pay taxes, lose most welfare, legally rent an apartment or house, get temporary driving permit etc
Crack down on one person renting an apartment/house and subletting to 10-20 people...granted a blanket in a living room separating you from 15 other people is better than a mud hut etc.
Commit a crime, don’t worry about the courts, you will be heading south for deportation.
No work permit, hit the road.
OF COURSE, nothing works if the running uninterrupted flow of newbies and recent deportees are coming back in.
Once get control of BOTH borders, thing get easier to control here.
ALSO, go after the companies that hire the illegals with no work permits etc...
If someone been here for 10 or 15+ years, contributing to society and not a criminal, work for some kind of fast track provided an employer sponsors them.
All a part of the Establishment plan to keep wages stagnant.
What happened to that “Make America Great Again” thing?
No new laws to benefit those breaking them, no matter how long they have been breaking them.
There are NO “law-abiding” illegal aliens, they MUST be breaking other laws in order to stay here illegally.
In terms of the raw number of third-world migrants pouring into our homeland - this is, so far, the third term of the Obama administration.
And if the DACA Amnesty Treason happens, it will be like having five Obamas in office at the same time.
So are the native US people working?
Will they do field work or is that beneath them (no work ethic)?
Do they fail drug testing?
Is welfare paying out too much?
Are they turning down jobs due to low pay?
Are they under-educated?
I don’t approve of these H1B visas at all, but I bet the problem of fewer US workers includes some of these issues I give above.
If the natives have these issues, they are screwing themselves. In today’s work environment, there is little room for error on behalf of the potential employee.
What happen to all the tough talk on American getting American jobs , Pres Trump .

The “low pay” issue falls flat because you are admitting the goal of importing these workers is to suppress wages. If American workers alone could drive the salary of a fast-food worker higher (according to supply and demand), then you can’t justify importing Third Worlders to keep the wage at $8-$9 per hour. Nobody is less-educated than the peons trafficked to NJ from Latin America; many are illiterate in SPANISH.
