NFL owners to meet, with racial divide on the agenda

UNDERSTANDING EACH OTHER   Sometimes sports become a venue for overcoming racial tensions. Amid anthem protests, pro football has a high-profile opportunity.

Minutes before kickoff for the first round of Sunday’s football games, the National Football League website carried two unusual features.

Below the usual fare of game-day predictions and fantasy matchups were slideshows of Baltimore players visiting schools with Baltimore police and of Miami Dolphins and the league commissioner doing the same with police in their city.

It was a jarring bit of social activism for a sports league site on game day. The slideshows are the NFL’s tentative steps to try to solve its “anthem problem.” Team owners want black players to stop kneeling during the playing of the national anthem, which has drawn the ire of the president, angered many fans, and threatens to turn off sponsors and advertisers. They’re also leery of alienating activist players, who have been protesting police treatment of African-Americans.

It’s a tough challenge, say both industry analysts and sports-and-society experts. Still, if the league and players can work together to find the right message, it would offer a unique moment when sports could help bridge America’s racial divide.

On Tuesday, NFL owners gathering in New York for their two-day annual meeting will consider what to do.

“There will be genuine, interesting, positive possibilities,” says Paul Haagen, co-director of the Center for Sports Law and Policy at Duke University. “If [the players] have that credibility and the league will work with them, then you greatly increase the chances that there is a way out of this.”

‘I think the article is missing the point’

everyone misses the point; until some points out the awful truth...no amount of grovelling is going to satisfy blacks who insist on blaming their problems on a social construct that was abolished by massive bloodshed over 150 years ago...

abetted by a self hating cadre of white journalists and pundits, they have learned to use the race card to maximum effect, and it’s never been as powerful as it is now...

Dear NFL and Players,

At this point the best option you have to make your point and guarantee everyone hears and understands you, would be for the Entire Team and the Coaches to Parade themselves on to the Field during the Anthem, each of them carrying a Burning American Flag.

“Social activism” requires one to accept the narrative put out by the left. That requires accepting the fiction they put forward as true.

Once you accept their false assumptions about reality, their entire agenda falls into place.

We should not be on the agenda.

Now we are the agenda!

The NFL needs to “get it” or die.

Sometimes sports become a venue for overcoming racial tensions.

How about being specific on what these 'racial tensions' are?

“NFL owners to meet, with racial divide on the agenda”

Well if that’s what tops the list it shows how clueless they are. It gives an insight into where they are coming from and it means the NFL is dead to me. Actually it already was. When they threatened Texas because they wanted to keep the creeps out of girls bathrooms and showers that was it.

Change the name to WFL, and first steps are to move the Chicago Bears to Moscow (they could be the Moscow Commie Bears), and Jacksonville Jaguars to Bejing (name: Bejing Rats - Rats is a year in the 12 year cycle in China/Japan/Korea.

It might be that some team owners might be thinking of putting a hit out on that former TERRIBLE QB for the 49ers.

I think this is bigger than just the NFL. Sports broadcasting is a major reason why people keep paying their cable TV bill.
Once they drive a new demographic group into the cord cutter camp the major media companies will have a hard time getting them back.

NFL players have become Hollywood movie stars in that they are given way more voice than they deserve on all things political.

The collapse of the NFL. Another highlight of Obammie’s “legacy”. Sundays are going to be a lot quieter and calmer in the near future. It’s gonna be nice.

The LEO community is made up of all Americans. Black, Caucasian, Asian, Hispanic, etc.. Collectively can be considered the color blue.

So, this isn’t a racial tbing, it’s a law and order thing.

After all, there’s a reason that the NFL is called the national felon league.

This morning on Fox & Friends, they had the man who rented a plane on Sunday in Jacksonville, FL to fly a banner reading:”Be American. Boycott the Jags & the NFL!”

He said there is a movement afoot to boycott all NFL games, both attendance and TV viewing, on the Sunday of Veteran’s Day weekend, Nov. 12. That seems very fitting, and hopefully, it will be a success. Vote with your remote!

The NFL(like other Leftists) are creating the DUMBEST business model in History: Charge more, entertain less, preach to and insult your paying customers.....how would that work in the real world?

If the leadership of the NFL is planning its future based on reality, they'd do well to move forward based on the assumption that most of the fans they've lost are never coming back.

With that in mind, I predict the NFL is going to become more gay and effeminate than it already was.

I think they should give up on the racial divide and strive to promote transgender issues! That’s the ticket, right there!

The fans actively embraced thuggery for some years.
Recall the Steelers and Raiders teams of yore, with their hit squads taking out key opponents by causing intentional injuries. Late hits, unnecessary roughness, fights on the field.

The league belatedly stopped it, but that was mostly due to pressure FROM OUTSIDE OF THE LEAGUE.

The owners think this will fly because there has always been a cadre within the fan base that embraces thuggery.

The tipping point has been passed though.
Die, NFL.
