Fort Stewart officials say a woman was taken into custody by Military Police on Monday after firing a weapon on post.

Several shots were fired near building 520 around 2:30 p.m., said Kevin Larson, spokesman for the installation. No one was injured by the gunfire. Authorities from the Fort Stewart Military Police and the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division are investigating.

No additional details are being released at this time.

There are no impacts to traffic or gates, and there is no active threat to the community, Larson said.

The installation, which is the military’s largest east of the Mississippi River, spans about 280,000 acres over five counties and is home to the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division.
