A survey out Monday by the Remington Research Group shows that Major League Baseball is the top sport right now among Americans as protests of the national anthem embroil the National Football League.
The group conducted a public opinion phone survey of 1,211 people and found that more people are showing an interest in baseball and the upcoming championship series than the National Football League. Additinally, results show more Republicans right now favor the MLB, while more Democrats favor the NFL.
The survey found that 60 percent of those interviewed viewed the MLB as favorable, with only 11 percent who viewed it as unfavorable. Of those who participated, 30 percent said that baseball was their top professional sport, with only 25 percent saying that football was theirs. The NBA, NHL and then MLS followed next in the list of top sports.
A total of 61 percent of those respondents said that the baseball playoffs have been very interesting or somewhat interesting leading, with 29 percent who felt that they have not been interesting at all.
Going inside the numbers, Republicans and people who identified themselves as non-partisan preferred baseball over the NFL 30 percent to 21 percent. Democrats, on the other hand, preferred football over the MLB 33 percent to 29 percent.
The survey was conducted on Sunday October 22, 2017. The margin of error is +/- 2.8 percent with a 95 percent level of confidence.
I have brought my 40+ year old Dodger pennant to work today. Local Georgians are indifferent. I don’t care.
Go Dodgers!
As a matter of fact I am very interested in destroying American football.
Anything that is American.
Goooooo Dodgers!!!!
>>Go Dodgers!<<
The Dodgers are the only team in all of sports I care about. Of course, the pain has been palpable for 29 years (I remember exactly where I was when Capt. Kirk hit “the shot heard ‘round the world”).
I am so glad Vin is still alive to see this. I know he won’t come out of retirement but you can bet he will be invited to the booth for a few words on more than one occasion.
C’mon Dodgers — win this one for Vin!!! (and me and Dr. S. and...)
The NFL will eventually stop singing the National Anthem before games. That’s the obvious cave-in solution.
Texans generally live and breathe football. Lately, not so much. We still LOVE high school and college ball, but the state is rooting for the Houston Astros in the World Series now, instead of the Dallas Cowboys. Jerry Jones jumped the shark with his wishy-washy handling of his players disrespecting the flag and National Anthem.
Could be, but it won’t stop the players from kneeling at other times in front of the crowd. ...or what remains of the crowd. The kneelers, whenever and wherever they kneel, are essentially telling the paying customers that they despise both them and the country. Thankfully most football fans are beginning to figure this out. No going back now.
Fact #1: The players were NOT on the field for the National Anthem until 2009... From the beginning of the NFL until then, the players were inside the locker room....
Fact #2: As the US Military (DOD) wished an increased show of patriotism at games, they agreed to pay the league an average of $300,00 per team. If one considers how many enlistment ads are shown by the military this seemed to make sense.
Fact #3: I have yet to hear a single owner agree to return those funds and to allow the team to return to the old pre-2009 rules.
Let’s see what happens after the world series is over.
The NFL is in a downward spiral and this Goodel(sp) clown does not have a clue on how to fix it.
I wish somebody would destroy HIM
MLB should step in and demand Fox show both the anthem and seventh inning stretch. Fox is broadcasting a product MLB owns and the comparison between MLB’s handling of anthem protests and the NFL will put baseball back in it’s rightful place. NUMBER ONE!
Baseball is the national pastime.
They don’t need to return the funds, the agreement with DOD was not renewed prior to last season, all showing of the anthem since then has been at league/ network discretion.
Another statue removed.
For some.
Winning!
Before it’s over ping pong might become more popular than the NFL .
