He recused for 2016. This was 2010.
Congress critters sure do love their special counsels and such. When do they ever get down to actually punishing their swamp buddies?
Investigate, investigate, investigate, ... How many investigations are going on now with NO NADA NOTHING being done? Typical excuse to look like congress is intelligent and useful. Baloney.
Special Counsel - OK! But only if their their term of reference are carefully set out, a time limit is set and a budget fixed. And NO EXCEPTIONS, NO EXTENSIONS with a failure to complete stated to be a career ending failure (no further Federal employment at all).
They should fire Sessions. He hasn’t done anything. He is sitting out the brawl and will declare himself the winner in the end. Even if he has people looking into certain crimes, he should have already presented the obvious crimes to Grand Jury(s). Further, he is in charge of the entire FBI. He has never made one step to help any investigation yet he is blocking the release of records, testimony, etc...
Could the gov’t declare Russian ownership of the uranium mine to be contrary to national security interests, confiscate the mine, and pay the Russians fair market value? Would this be legal? I suspect there is a FReeper who knows the answer to these questions.
You may be correct.
Note that this is Grassley tweaking Rosenstein and Sessions.
Special counsel rules (not law) call for one in case of appearance of conflict of interest.
Rosenstein was involved in prosecuting Russian bribery connected to Uranium One, making him have a potential conflict.
If Sessions extends his recusal to this, there is a real question of who would decide a special counsel is needed.
Keep in context: Grassley is needling the DOJ.
Possible dueling special prosecuters! Bonus!
