Can my children be friends with black people?
And I’ll say it loudly; God created us all as fellow humans no matter the skin color. Racism by any side is unacceptable.
Everyone is this country can do great things if they want.
It’s time for everyone to pull their weight and quit the excuse making.
Your grandfather was attempting to preserve a culture that pre-dated the birth of Christ, though maybe in an ignorant way (some fear what they don’t understand). Those old cultures are what built the New World.
He may have also been trying to protect your father from some anti-German sentiment around the time of the World Wars.
We’re already there with the economic marginalization of whites; they use our taxes to fund “minority/women owned businesses”, and push them into higher education for free while denying seats to white guys.

I admit that I’m prejudiced - I notice a person’s skin color. My wife 20 years ago was not at all. (One funny incident she was trying to describe a co-worker to me “Oh, you met her - Jenny! When you picked me up when my car wouldn’t start. Tall gal, a tad overweight with the curly hair.... Remember she was waiting with me!!??” I replied - oh - the black gal!?”
I had real hopes for my kids - they had no clue either - all the brown, yellow and black kids in grade school were just kids.
Sadly, in Junior High and beyond they developed their own prejudices based on the behavior of the brown and black kids. Although they all-in-all do a good job of trying not to lump them all together, and have friends of various races.
In my daughter’s class there is exactly one black child, and that child is a disruption and a violent heathen. She is a bad influence on my daughter.
Now my 6-yr-old daughter knows the word “bitch”. The black girl probably picked it up from her sassy, “Oh no you di’n’t” stereotype of a black mother, who is everything I seek to avoid.
So no, my white daughter cannot have black friends, at least those that act black.
Honestly, what you’re describing doesn’t sound like prejudice to me. Prejudice meaning to pre-judge.
It is certainly worlds apart from the way the author of the article views the world and what he’s teaching his child. No comparison!
