Rep. Joe Barton, who apologized Wednesday for a lewd photo of him that circulated on the Internet, told a woman to whom he had sent sexually explicit photos, videos and messages that he would report her to the Capitol Police if she exposed his behavior, according to a recording reviewed by The Washington Post.
The woman spoke to The Post after the lewd photo was published Tuesday by an anonymous Twitter account. She shared a secretly recorded phone conversation she had with Barton in 2015 in which he warned her against using the explicit materials “in a way that would negatively affect my career.”
Besides the recording of the phone call, the woman shared text and social-media messages she exchanged with Barton, as well as a 53-second cellphone video Barton recorded of himself while masturbating. The conspiracy theory website InfoWars obtained a copy of the video and published it Wednesday night, though the video appeared to have been removed from the site several hours later.
The lewd Twitter photo that Barton acknowledged on Wednesday appears to have been captured from that video. The woman said she did not post the image herself. She shared phone numbers for Barton that match his personal and government-issued cellphones. Barton was not abusive or coercive in his interactions, the woman said, but said she felt he was “manipulative and dishonest and misleading” in his dealings with her and other women.

I think all these stories about the entertainment industry and politicians is giving us a skewed vision of men-at-work.

I think we may soon learn that the Capitol Police have been long used to intimidate women and keep Member’s sexual misconduct under wraps.

Of course I read everything you wrote. I posted my opinion to you. Women have come a long way and have the ability to choose their path not based on any other woman’s opinion of what they deem correct and same goes for a man. Try not to generalize maybe would have made more sense to you and your wife. Btw, where does your comment on snowflake fit in? Makes no sense in this scenario.
Hit piece. Blackmail is a crime. Barton is the victim in this.
As is anyone who accidentally saw his nude visage.
No need to waste thousands on a special election because there is a picture of his weewee. If he wants to leave let it be at the end of his current term after not running for reelection.
