She unbuttoned her blouse when he asked her to, she did not say she said no, or that she didn’t comply. How is that rape?

If she felt she would otherwise lose her job- what job is that critical? That would be prostitution to agree to sex in return for job, or better job. Feminists are supposed to be so independent and strong, yet she just went along with what he wanted?

They both should have been fired for having sex at work. I don’t see rape, or even assault unless she left out the part where she said no, tried to summon help, or fought back. I read nothing about him being armed and threatening her, that is a game changer but nothing about that either.

Oh my goodness. Is that a real picture of him sitting in that S&M gear? There are lots of pictures of him dressed up for Halloween in women’s clothing and other very inappropriate things. This guy had major “issues.” I can’t imagine any company tolerating this kind of behavior in today’s work environment, but I guess it was appropriate for NBC! Unbelievable.

I have thought about it. If I unbutton my blouse when a man asks me to I am saying yes. The only thing that would make a difference is if the man was armed and I was in fear because of that, no mention of him being armed or threatening her in any way. At no point does it say she said no, or objected, tried to get help, or tried to defend herself.

Your scenario about the bad guy with a gun doesn’t work, again no mention that he was armed or threatening her. A weapon is a game changer, if he had been armed- holding a gun on her- then yes it would have been rape.

Yes he could end her career, but if she complies for that reason it is prostitution on her part and still not rape. She should have made it clear she was not willing to have sex with him, every way she possibly could have. Then she should have filed a complaint with her employer and possible law enforcement depending on what actually happened. Win or lose that is what I would have done. No job has ever been that important to me. If you are going to consent to sex for a job, to keep a job, or get a better one that is no different than deciding to be a prostitute.

Yes so many acting like women cannot say no, cannot attempt to defend themselves. Just complete compliance and then later call it assault or rape. This is treating women as if they are children or have mental disabilities and have no idea about things.

I would absolutely not take my clothes off for a man if I was not intending to have sex with him. I can understand why men take that as a yes. I know the law does not see it that way but I do. I would have a real hard time on a jury convicting a man of rape if the woman willingly undressed for him, especially if at no point in the story does it mention she said no, or did anything to try to keep it from happening.

Actually the law pretty much says the same thing, if one is in a power position and senior to another. It may not be enough to be called rape but is enough to be considered sexual harassment on the job. The law in many circumstances treats it the same as statutory rape where a minor cannot consent. I don’t like that, I think it demeans women- as though they cannot think for themselves or have the sense to say no.

I see it different, I think if the sex on the job is consensual they should both be fired. If the woman does not consent then it would be sexual harassment or even rape depending on what happened.

Not all women are as strong as you. A friend of mine was sexually assaulted by her boss and she was too terrified to stop him, he was a monster.

It does happen and I believe her story.

If you watch the youtube video, it’s creepy the way he stares at the actress and dangles the handcuffs. Watch her expression as well.

Aha, no worries either way. I was thinking out loud, trying to collect arguments concerning her veracity on a certain aspect of her story that someone else seemed to bring up. Obviously I was not there but I do think that at least some arguments against implausibility might be easily rebutted.

I would be interested to know who requested the door lock. Iron and also if there was soundproofing and if so who ordered that. If the answer to both is lauer, then I wonder if that would significantly weaken any potential claims of innocence on his part. That is, does he need unusual privacy and comfort in his office due to the rigors of his job? I suspect that a good defense lawyer would not have much problem with arguing that. However, I also wonder if such an interior electronic remote lock would pass fire inspection. How would one escape if a fire or fire alarm or drill were to occur? Was the lock to code?? Maybe a GC here reading this might know and be able to comment. What state is his office in?

She is often victimized a second time by others because they don’t believe her

Sort of like the women victimized by Donald Trump and Roy Moore. Because the woman must ALWAYS be believed; women never lie.

"A woman would not necessarily tell her husband"

Mine would, as she handed me my shotgun, loaded.
