Are we talking about ORIGINAL birth certificates here, or merely later copies, changed at a later date?
What parent would put “X” on their child’s birth certificate? As in, to be determined at some time in the future?

Funny. How will they know that by looking at a baby? I mean I get the whole male/female, innie/outie thing, but by selecting 'X', aren't you determining the baby's sex before it can identify with what it is?

I guess we have to settle for baby steps. One day we’ll be able to use facebook to generate birth certificates and pick from 50+ options (and I hope they include “other” in case you still can’t find the right one). /sarc
A simple solution would be to have 2 options
- Penis
- No penis
The parents can pretend whatever they want, but, there is or isn’t a penis. This even includes the genetic abnormalities some people cite as a reason for a needing more that 2 sex/gender options. Even those abnormalities have an objective answer to the penis/no-penis question.
And whatever psychological abnormalities the parents inflict on their kids will be covered as well, so long as the parents don’t physically mutilate their children.

For a minor to change the sex designation on a birth certificate, a parent or guardian and a licensed health care provider treating the minor would have to submit signed statements along with the notarized form.
What about the recent trend at baby showers, where the mom to be announces the sex of her baby at the party?
In those cases, she is reporting results of ultrasounds which show genitalia.
Are all these moms bigoted against the transsexual/gender bender/confused people of the world????
Genetic Science says there are two human sexes, Male and female.
Any chromosomal divergences from that are DEFECTS.

For instance, how will a doctor handle it when a female, now pretending to be male, shows up and demands a prostate exam? How will the doc handle it - they can't do it, "pretending" to do it will open them up to malpractice lawsuits, and refusing to play along with the patient's mental issues will open them up to discrimination lawsuits.
