MSNBC Reporter: Trump Is Acting Like Mussolini, Franco, And Hitler
Townhall.com ^ | December 9, 2017 | Matt Vespa

We’re back to this again: Donald Trump is a dictator and we could be heading down the same path as Nazi Germany. Former President Obama made similar references at an event at the Economic Club of Chicago this week. He said democracy is like a garden, it needs attention, and that growing complacent could quickly lead to things falling apart.

“That's what happened in Germany in the 1930s, which despite the democracy of the Weimar Republic and centuries of high-level cultural and scientific achievements, Adolph Hitler rose to dominate,” said Obama during a Q&A session. “Sixty million people died. . .So, you've got to pay attention. And vote.”

We’re not Germany. We certainly don’t have institutions as shoddy at the Weimar Republic. We don’t have successful, widespread communist and fascist movements that are tearing the country apart in the same way they did to Germany and the rest of Europe; the latter of which birthed one of the most nefarious authoritarian societies in history. These groups in America also have zero electoral success. Nazis and Communists are not being elected to legislatures en masse. The Left needs to relax. They just lost an election.

In the media, it’s no different. Trump is angling himself to be like Franco, Hitler and Mussolini. MSNBC’s Ali Velshi made note of this when interviewing historian Michael Beschloss on Thursday.

MSNBC’s Ali Velshi Compares President Trump to Franco, Hitler and Mussolini

Donald Trump has threatened to ban an entire religion from entering the country. He attacks the news institutions, which is what Franco, Hitler, Mussolini, and a whole bunch of other people did. Do you feel that our checks and balances in the Constitution and our political system will protect us against these potential violations of the Constitution?

The Free Beacon had a more thorough breakdown of this interview:

Velshi began by asking Beschloss how Trump's behavior compares to other presidents and commented how he could think of examples around the world, but they "tend to be dictators."

"How does he compare to other presidents? Can you think of other presidents who attack our institutions as much as he does? And our cultural norms?," Velshi asked. "I can think of this all over the world in other places. They tend to be dictators."

"You're right. And we're not even 11 months into this presidency," Beschloss said.

Ruhle asked Beschloss if Trump was manipulating institutions to his favor.

"It's easy for us to say sitting on a perch–we get criticized for it–that Trump doesn't understand how our political or legal institutions work. Or does he? Is he sly like a fox? Is he manipulating the system of checks and balances to work in his favor?" Ruhle asked.

"Stephanie, you've absolutely got it," Beschloss said. "You know, he certainly does not understand it in the way that most presidents have. Most presidents come in after a career in the military or political life. And most of them have a pretty good sense of history and understanding of our democracy. Almost none of that is true of Donald Trump, but that's not the reason he's doing this. He's doing this because he wants power, wants to expand presidential power, He will be pushed and he will only stop when he is stopped."

Okay—you guys just lost an election; deal with it. Donald Trump isn’t taking your crap in the media; deal with it. Journalists are not being black bagged by secret police. Car bombs aren’t going off. This isn’t North Korea, or any real nation with a totalitarian government. We’re not Oceania. Everyone needs to relax. People wanted change. They wanted someone different, and a person who isn’t a politician, and Donald Trump is that person. The press is just getting some mud thrown their way. They’re not immune from criticism. The eight-year Obama lovefest is over. Also, the Supreme Court ruled that the latest travel ban could be enforced, so let’s dial it down on the potential Constitutional violations we may or may not be facing. Then again, this is what MSNBC does; keep liberal blood pressures at healthy levels.

Lets not forget that at one time Mussolini was the editor of a newspaper.

I wonder if the people in the media realize that Mussolini was the editor of the socialist newspaper “Avanti”.

In 1945 indeed this former newspaper editor was dealt with by his enemies in the manner you described.

I wonder if any of these MSNBC and similar anti-Trump folks have ever read any books about the origin and history of fascism? I honestly doubt it. Or if they know that the Dems and bh0 were hawking socialism and communism onto this country...and for them, fascism is merely a way point to what they want to create in a communist dictatorship like the USSR, Cuba, Communist China, and North Korea have.

There needs to be a way to force the media to report the truth and leave their own bias out of the story. Now it is simply a tool of the DNC.

ah, Mussolini and associates were hung (already dead) upside down from a large horizontal girder at a gas station in Milan.... ofc, people tend not to know that Mussolini started off as pure left-winger (socialist) who seized central state power.... he was not a phenomenon of the “right” but of the “LEFT”....

Trump is angling himself to be like Franco, Hitler and Mussolini.

Fascism is a form of statism, which is what libtards want. Trump wants smaller government and less statism.

“They left out Satan, Stalin and Pol Pot.”

Of course they left out those three. Those three are their heros! Perhaps not so much Pol Pot, but their love of abortion does give them a similarity to Pol Pot of killing people, but before they are born.

This has gotten way beyond ridiculous, and the reasons for the media's behavior are truly juvenile. Successive generations of aspiring media personnel have been attracted to the profession by the celebrity of Woodward and Bernstein, and the possibility to ‘be important and change the world’.

Print media journalists didn't just have their byline anymore, they started doing television appearances on opinion shows, and becoming celebrities of a sort themselves. The more sensational their stories, and the more their stories were slanted to promote liberal causes, the more likely they'd be on television. Even bylines for some of them started being accompanied by their pictures.

Broadcast news became even more the realm of celebrity. First there were Cronkite, Huntley, and Brinkley, and then came a succession of broadcast news personalities who became household names: Barbara Walters, Dan Rather, Ted Koppel, and many, many others. It became increasingly more about them than about accuracy in reporting or investigative journalism. Their salaries became enormous, and their egos grew commensurately.

They were becoming the news, not reporting the news - and they embraced this. Unfortunately, this has led to the decimation of media professionalism and credibility. Their legacy has been the ruination of their profession, and loss of public trust. Worse, they have contributed to a decline in American society. They won't see it that way, of course, but they have.

Then along comes Trump, who told them they are incompetent and dishonest, and ridicules them for not doing their jobs - and for their bias. He doesn't treat them like important celebrities. He coins the phrase ‘fake news’, and then shows in instance after instance how that phrase accurately depicts what they've been doing. In short, he's pushing them back to being what they are supposed to be, non-celebrity professionals whose job is to investigate and accurately report the news without bias and without fanfare.

They hate him for that, and that's what is motivating their over the top rhetoric.

You could add that Hitler became very wealthy as chancellor of Germany. Book sales, copyright of his image used on postage stamps, etc. From being a “community organizer”, state senator, US Senator, & President, Obama seems to have amassed quite a fortune as a government employee. Same goes for the Clintons.

Well, of course. The Hitler/dictator meme was in the talking points memo faxed by the DNC/Soros groups to all of the LSM.

Ted Kennedy I can understand as being a Dem/socialist/communist but Ted Nugent?

I’ve heard him many times on Hannity and other shows. He is a Republican, pro-gun rights, pro-hunting, conservative NRA member, and against drugs. I’ve never seen him as being a willing supporter of true fascism like the Dems are.
