Judge Declares Mistrial In 2014 Bundy Ranch Standoff Case
Talking Points Memo news ^ | December 20, 2017 | AP

A U.S. judge has declared a mistrial in the case against a Nevada rancher accused of leading a 2014 armed standoff with federal agents in a cattle grazing dispute.

Chief U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro dismissed the jury Wednesday and faulted prosecutors for what she called “constitutional due-process violations” and failing to properly turn over evidence to the defense.

The decision in the case against Cliven Bundy, two of his sons and another man is the latest in a string of failed prosecutions in Nevada and Oregon against those who have opposed federal control of vast swaths of land in the American West...

I already know the FBI agent was indicted for lying and obstructing justice. It doesn’t change what I said.

Here’s more details about what happened from your linked article:

Investigators said a member of the FBI’s elite Hostage Rescue Team fired at Finicum as his 2015 Dodge pickup truck crashed into a snow bank at a roadblock on U.S. 395. Finicum had just sped away from a surprise traffic stop on the rural highway as the occupation leaders traveled off the refuge to a community meeting Jan. 26, 2016.

The agent’s bullets didn’t hit Finicum, 54, an Arizona rancher who was the spokesman for the armed takeover of the federal sanctuary near Burns in Harney County. Moments later, state police troopers shot Finicum three times after he emerged from his white truck and reached for his inner jacket pocket, where police said he had a loaded 9mm handgun. One bullet pierced his heart, an autopsy found.

Let me post again what I wrote.

Why then did the FBI agents lie and say they didn’t shoot? Why is OSP conducting an investigation into the agents?

I didn't claim that the FBI agent shot Finnicum. IIRC there's a bullet lodged in one of the other people that were in the pickup that has had no ballistics testing done on. Who exactly has the FBI's "hostage rescue team" (snort) ever rescued? Seems to me the only thing they're good at is shooting women (Weaver) and children (Waco).

While I love your sense of humour, I limit my daily interactions with trolls to a small minimum. I’m too busy a man as it is.

I was expecting this. The BLM are bullies, all buddies of Harry Reid. They overstepped big time and now look like fools. They mutilated cows for no reason.

It was all in the script. At least one of the cars had to jackrabbit to the “Felony stop area” so they could justifiably incite LaVoy into doing something they could put two bullets in his back for.

Actually LaVoy was killed by two bullets into his back. Its in the Autopsy and the 2 Oregon State Police OSP shooters both put it their written reports.

Exactly
Plus I don’t think anyone on this thread posted the real reason.
It wasn’t the water, it was the multi billion dollar deal Reid and his son were negotiating with the Chinese for their solar farm.

Well Moonbat62, according to the video footage he stepped out of the vehicle with his hands raised.

They then shot him twice.

After being shot twice, he went for his own weapon and they filled him full of holes.

This video is part of the withheld information that just triggered this umpteenth mistrial.

I am going to back the murder assertion.

You just might want to reconsider.

Moonbat always deflects from the teargas round the masked thugs fired at the first stop.

It sounded like a rifle round striking the truck, and Finicum rightly called out the backshooters at that time.

Moonbat likes to pretend that didn't happen. :)

Here is what was going on back then:

Breaking: Sen. Harry Reid Behind BLM Land Grab of Bundy Ranch

BLM attempted cover-up of Sen. Reid/Chinese gov’t takeover of ranch for solar farm

Source: Kit Daniels

The Bureau of Land Management, whose Director was Sen. Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) former senior adviser, has purged documents from its web site stating that the agency wants Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s cattle off of the land his family has worked for over 140 years in order to make way for solar panel power stations.

Lon Horiuchi also took out Vicki Weavers baby while in her arms!

He was trying for both with one shot, to impress his sniper buddies.

I cried during the congressional testimony. I sincerely hope to meet him one day. I'll tell him hello from the Weavers.

You are exactly correct. “At least one of the cars had to jackrabbit to the “Felony stop area” so they could justifiably incite LaVoy into doing something they could put two bullets in his back for.”

That was an illegal pre-planned KILL stop. The fact that Ryan Bundy was also shot seems to be forgotten by some. I was appalled to watch what the authorities did to all of the people in the vehicle, not just what they did to LaVoy Finicum.

The Bundy’s and the Finicum’s have been vilified by the FBI, BLM and the media. Not to mention some freepers. They are political prisoners and the government didn’t approve of them teaching the Constitution and exposing the government corruption.

Ammon Bundy himself stated that he had been “molested like an animal” while in custody. They would also shackle him to a bench and leave him without food for 12 hours at a time. Like a damn Turkish prison.

Personnel is policy. Sessions seems to be most interested in keeping marijuana (unconstitutionally) illegal. And almost nobody east of the continental divide understands the seriousness of central government policy whereby it (unconstitutionally) claims ownership of the majority of the real estate in the west.

To most flatlanders this might seem like a case of some guys who didn't pay the rent on some land they were using and mounted some kind of armed resistance to the landlord coming to evict. Even when they know that the basis of any economy is the creation of wealth through added value, in the west the most essential raw material (land) is controlled by a single entity. For enterprises like the Bundy Ranch (and it is not only ranchers) there is no option, there is no land available to buy or lease except "federal" land, and who may prosper and who may not is chosen by a single master.

I do—and I’m not only east of the divide, I’m in Canada. Of course I grew up in the backwoods of Oregon. Your point is an extremely valid one. Almost no one who grew up in the east or the urban west understands the rural west—and the resources of the rural west are effectively controlled by those who do not understand them. Seattle, Portland, Eugene, urban California, Phoenix, and Las Vegas are all bad enough, but add in their eastern allies and the culture I grew up with is condemned to a political hell.
