If it was still awake and running around in Northern Minnesota this time of year then there was almost certainly something wrong with it I would think.
Bears in northern Minnesota will wake up and move around a bit on warmer winter days. Dogs will stir them up. And they will den up in winter closer to buildings than most believe.
