Sounds like they knew how to distribute on the black market.

I suspect that you are feigning ignorance. No, they were growing it in their little greenhouse for "medical" use, but word got around amongst their acquaintances. Soon there were a lot of people wanting it from them. They never intended to get into the pot business.

They decided to move to a warmer location for health reasons. After living here in Washington where basically anything goes these days they didn't even consider that they wouldn't even be able to grow it for their own personal use in Florida. I think that she was hinting to my wife for us to buy pot up here and send them parcels in the mail because she says she still “needs” it for medical use. I believe she actually does have some sort of nerve disorder, and psychologically at least it helps her.

It’s the law.

Don’t like it, change it.

Feigning ignorance? Weed has been pervasive in Oregon for decades. Can”t make people break the law. Sounds like you know how it is. Why does California shock you. The place is a toilet, and legal weed didn’t cause that.

Doesn’t seem to work that way since illegal grow operations are booming with legalization and those cartels are part of human trafficking which continues.

I hope your wife has the sense to not do that. Inlived in Flotida in the ‘’80’s No shortage of weed down there. Throw seeds on the ground, they grow. One time I was hangin’ at the entryway of the AF dorms. SP’s walked out with a drug dog, just making the rounds. Dog hikes it’s leg on the planter outside and sprays the pot seedlings growing there. We used to run around taking pictures. Noticed a really bushy little plant, one day. Went back a couple weeks later to look at it, and some neighborhood kids came over and asked if we were looking for it. They said some men came by and took it away in a box.

Can you blame legalization for illegal grows?

An increase in illegal grows, yes.
It’s a gold rush and a multi-tiered market and it looks like easy money flowing all around them so people want a piece of all that money.
The propaganda screams it’s all win-win but the FReepers who write about the malaise of legal pot in their state aren’t just makin’ it up.

I’m in a legal state. The only change I notice is the smell of fresh harvests as I drive around. And that, only twice. Lots of dispensaries in town, but they’re serving a demand, or they won’t last. Oregon’s lack of political will to enforce the law is a problem. How are people spotting illegal grows? Under the law, a grow visible from public property is illegal.

I’m curious about why I’m not hearing about crop thefts. Between the tweekers and dumb teenagers, I would think that the “easy money” would be a great temptation.

Oh hell No. We think our friend's health problems have more to do with her overuse of pot and her related psych problems. Still up here she was able to get a “green card” from a local doctor so she could buy it legally long before it was legal for recreational use. They were indignant when they found out she couldn't get a local doctor to get it for her down there. I am sure that now that they have been in Florida for awhile that they have figured out how to get their hands on what they “need”.

While marijuana use has been prevalent here from the time I was a teen and before... at least people made some attempt to keep it on the down low most of the time. Now it is out in the open and in your face all the time. There is a huge difference in attitude and people smoke it everywhere and even drive down the road with smoke coming out of their windows.

Sounds like illegal immigrant culture rubbing off on white kids...wanna- beaners. You’re looking at the grandchildren of the hippies. ‘60’s counter- culture becoming the cultural norm. Still, the activities you describe are illegal under current law, are they not?Laws go ignored for generations and the , when a prohibition is rolled back , everyone gets all wee-weed up at lax enforcement. California truly has the government they deserve. Sucks being on the outs, I guess.

Now this is interesting. Sessions was not in attenance at Camp David this weekend, where the opioid crisis was discussed=> http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3620109/posts

Trump tweet on the meeting =>

“Leaving Camp David for the White House. Great meetings with the Cabinet and Military on many very important subjects including Border Security & the desperately needed Wall, the ever increasing Drug and Opioid Problem, Infrastructure, Military, Budget, Trade and DACA.”

“DMOTMC of course refuse to see the slightest downside to mj use or legalization; $ or habitual use may be involved in many; others are just naive fools.”

PATA&IL of course refuse to see the slightest upside to mj use or legalization & how medical marijuana helps people.

DMOTMC never notice that my position is that adults 21 and over should legally be permitted to grow 1 or 2 plants FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL USE. No selling, giving, bartering, sharing.

No, that’s not good enough.

Makes me wonder how many rabid dopers here are growing it for big $.

And the inevitable result is that more and more people use mj including young teenagers and even children. And pregnant mothers.

Results will be very, very bad.

More dope grown means the sellers need more customers.

Plenty pot thefts around here. A lot of growers have vicious dogs and armed guards. Also house breakins after harvest.

Absolutely I blame legalization for the explosion in illegal growing.

I’ve explained before.

Pro-dopers feign ignorance, lie, and refuse to ever admit there is one atom of downside to mj use or legalization.

Of course, being a pot head makes it much easier to do all the above and still believe the fantasy.
