The Huffington Post ^ | January 4, 2018 | Mike Weisser, Contributor Mike the Gun Guy

If there is one name which creates anger and hostility within the gun violence prevention (GVP) community, it’s not Wayne LaPierre, head of the National Rifle Association, it’s John Lott. His book, More Guns, Less Crime, has become the Magna Carta for the pro-gun movement and his argument that armed citizens deter violent crime is immediately cited in any public debate involving the regulation of guns.

Lack of Geographical specificity? How about Democrat strongholds being crime ridden areas? Or how about replacing the word middle ground with getting back our rights to gain tax breaks for training and bullets? How about we discuss a middle ground from that ground, art of the deal type!?

Show id to buy gun, show id to vote. Require training course for gun ownership, rewuire training to vote.

The correct author of this piece is Mike Weisser, Contributor,
‘Mike the Gun Guy’, not John Lott.

Oh puh-leeze. Another alphabet euphemism from the Left.

Agreed. These people and how arrogant and immature they are in terms of how they regard their ideals so much that they have to break them down into these silly little soundbyte terms with the initials. Almost like they got those lessons from the late Casey Kasem’s countdowns, lol.

his argument that armed citizens deter violent crime is immediately cited in any public debate

HIS argument? Not a simple statistical and observable truth? SMH

The Left, as always, personalizes an issue, and then attacks the person.

(Note the impressive and eternal lack of any reference to race or urban culture when detailing “the gun problem” by the Left.)

No. They got them from the “great” Socialist leaders of the 20th century! So, Gun Control Advocate becomes Gun Violence Prevention Community just as Abortion became Choice.

Actually, if you read the article, he cites one county as the evidence that race is not a factor, but only relative wealth is.

Springfield, MA pop. 153,000 (cough, cough) 22% black.

Longmeadow, MA pop. 15,800 (cough, cough) .69% black.

Oh, yeah, I’m sure tough gun laws had a LOTT to do with it.

John Lott is willfully blind to the obvious: more blacks more crimes. Probably a tactical concession to the PC line to avoid his good points about firearms being poisoned by racism accusations.
Which is a shame because he helps perpetuating a big lie-by-omission.

I’m sure that he is well aware of such an obvious thing. However, his not mentioning it is less a concession to p.c. than it is typically used to derail the conversation away from guns to social issues, such as poverty, criminal justice, wage disparity, etc., blah blah. All distractions when he wants to talk about the winning arguments for gun liberty.
