French actress Catherine Deneuve has said that men should be "free to hit on" women.
She is one of 100 French women who wrote an open letter, warning about a new "puritanism" sparked by recent sexual harassment scandals.
It deplores a wave of "denunciations" following rape allegations made against US movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.
A group of French feminists condemned the letter, accusing the signatories of trivializing sexual violence....
The letter by French women writers, performers and academics was published in France's Le Monde newspaper on Tuesday.
"Men have been punished summarily, forced out of their jobs when all they did was touch someone's knee or try to steal a kiss", it said.
"Rape is a crime, but trying to seduce someone, even persistently or clumsily, is not-and nor is men being gentlemanly a chauvinist attack"......

I'm a libertarian not trying to impose my sexuality on others but am socially conservative himself seeing liberality in sex as self-destructive for me personally.
This witch hunt going on disturbs me greatly and this famous French actress and the other signatories have my support for their courage to stand up to it.
Women who highlight or show off their breasts will likely be hit upon. If a man had his “Johnson” hanging out, I’d say he can be hit on as well. Same difference!
As a woman, I am with Deneuve. Innocent flirting has lead to most long term relationships/marriages. But the Left really wants to do away with traditional marriages and families. So they criminalize everything that can lead to traditional marriage and family creation. We are nearly at the bottom of the slippery slope. I sure hope we can claw our way back up.
Well said.
Note also — there was a thread yesterday which (if I remember correctly) was about a reality TV show. There was a transgender who tried to force himself on a guy and get a kiss. The guy wasn’t interested and pulled back. It became a big deal — because the transgender was rejected. That’s a kind of hate at this point. The guy who wouldn’t take the kiss was portrayed as a very bad person.
But, a man flirts with a woman? Better call 911.
It seems to me that feminism has reached a crossroads. If they carry on at the present rate (assuming the feminists’ heads don’t explode) the burka will be as much in fashion ten years from now as the Bikini was in the late 50s.
Hooray for Catherine Deneuve. As to the sexual assault by the transgender person. This is like Orwells Animal Farm. All ANIMALS are equal, but some are more equal than others.
Agree.
i would say also that feminism has all but taken the fun and mystique out of flirting and dating and looking for ‘the right one’.
I mean innocent flirting - a quick look, a friendly smile, a sincere compliment...
Liberalism makes relationships and everything combative, hazardous, and unfulfilling.
I’m not sure we are near the bottom of this slippery slope yet. The political table is actually round, not rectangle. Eventually, relationships and marriages will be arranged if the liberal (radical feminists) get their way. And they won’t necessarily be male/female arrangements.
As it is today, there are a great number of websites dedicated to formally matching mates and partners. Correspondence and consent is dutifully documented in this way. And a lot of people are doing it.
The FemiNazis have no critical thinking skills at all.
What to call it when a man chats up a woman?
If its WANTED by the woman no problem.
It only becomes a problem if its NOT WANTED.....and he persists.
IOW, cant blame a guy for trying......some women would be flattered by the male attention.
But if the woman is annoyed he should back off.
“Same difference!”
not at all.
if you’d said a woman exposing her vaginal area is the same as a man exposing his “johnson” (as you put it) then it’d be same difference.
Breasts were created for feeding a child, not urinating or creating a child like body part you mentioned.
I’m encouraged that the backlash to #MeToo has been quicker, more reasoned and from more unexpected sources than I ever would have anticipated.
Peter Hitchens wrote about “sex pests” and those complaining about them in a column a month or two back saying those complaining will get the niqab as standard gear in the end.
That might be a good thing!
I saw that, and believe he took some flak for it.
Thanks for following the rules!
She was/is quite possibly the most beautiful woman on the planet.
Over the past decade or so, equal opportunity has opened up vistas to women with job offerings never even thought of before. Now, subtly, many employers are going to pass up women for jobs lest the slightest words or actions in their work areas are construed as "unwanted sexual advancements" and they get slammed with suits or bad publicity.
Female employement will naturally decrease except in the lower, more unskilled areas.
Rampant liberalism is the greatest destructive force in our society today.

Amen.
I am a woman and I see this as a war on men, especially white men. Its out of hand and as usual not thought out at all. It started with those pink hats crap and that Muslim woman Linda whatshername. I thought she got kicked out of our country?
Brigit Bardot was.
To bad she ended up a crazy old cat lady LOL
