And he’s “negotiating” by stating up front that he will sign “a clean DACA bill” . In other words, a DACA amnesty in exchange...for nothing.

And then in the next sentence, he says he would then do a “comprehensive reform”, IOW, a massive amnesty of millions.

We’ve been had. No amount of wishful spin by Rush or anyone else can hide the stink of this sell out.

Despite his use of some disheartening language yesterday, I still think he is playing the Democrats and not US.
My guess is he does not think that anything will pass and he will be cleared to deport.

Democrats DO NOT want the wall. Democrats WANT DACA. President Trump put them between a rock and a hard place. If they vote AGAINST the wall, DACA expires and their base will go nuts. If they vote FOR the wall to get DACA, their base will go nuts. It’s an election year, what to do? what to do?

He was simply saying he is open to all ideas, but he will not get an amnesty bill. He can now say he tried but the Dems would not compromise with the illegals.

He should have added he’d sign anything that included a wall and end to chain and lottery migration.

He did in his own way. He is always a few steps ahead and kinda skipped over the implication that it would include those 3 things otherwise it would be dead on arrival. The dems are not liking the position they are in. If they don't give in to these very reasonable demands to get what they want, a one time allowance for the DACA people to stay and have a path to citizenship but not getting it handed to them, then the dems look like the bad guys to their base.

I think Trump had a talk with the repub leadership spelling out anything he signed had to include his basic demands so don't send him anything without it and putting him in a position to veto it so then he would be the bad guy. Trump is teaching the repubs how to play Kabuki theater; something the dems have been doing for some time now. They don't like being on the receiving end as we can all imagine.
