On a normal day, there aren’t many people heading to Google to figure out how to survive a nuclear strike. But Saturday was not a normal day.
Shortly after 2:30 p.m. Eastern, searches for “how to survive nuclear” peaked in the U.S., from being almost nonexistent to being almost twice as common as “how to make pasta.” The increase was centered in Hawaii, where about 90 minutes earlier, a warning had gone out over the state’s emergency alert system: “BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL”.

[SNIP] Tulsi Gabbard's tweet went out within about 15 minutes of the false alarm to her 174,000 followers. She was probably the first well-known authority figure to inform the public that there was no need to panic. News outlets picked up that clarification and spread it widely.
This, by contrast, was President Trump’s first tweet after incorrect alert went out.
So much Fake News is being reported. They don’t even try to get it right, or correct it when they are wrong. They promote the Fake Book of a mentally deranged author, who knowingly writes false information. The Mainstream Media is crazed that WE won the election!

It was sent more than three hours after the alert went out. As you can see, it has nothing to do with the alert. Those who follow Trump on Twitter — 46.6 million of them — haven’t been given any information

I’m going to go out on a limb and call the writer of this spew a limp-wristed poofter.
The false alarm in Hawaii only points out what happens when you listen to and elect democrat leftists. (It happens when you elect republican leftists as well) Remember, a moderate is only a liberal that is lying.
These snowflakes have no clue that the reaction to a FAKE/FALSE ALARM about an incoming (”presumed” nuclear) missile should not be the same as a real ATTACK by an actual nuclear missile.

Oh come on, really? When I first heard this, I laughed. Not for one second did I believe there was a real threat. NOT ONE SECOND!
I grew up in the “duck and cover days of the fifties and sixties when a nuclear threat was REAL.
I was worried back then, not NOW, not yet.
What if someone was there and needed to be prevented from leaving so someone could capture them? What if the way that could happen was if ALL flights were grounded just before and during the grab?

Imagine all pilots slamming balls-to-the-walls to get out of the zone after looking at their phone alert.
I suspect it is set up on a computer so it can be sent out quickly. It may be that all someone has to do is hit enter, and if the wrong thing on a list is highlighted the alert goes out. The only security may be the access to that system. If an employee with access has a choice of doing a test of the system or an actual alert message they could easily choose the wrong option if not paying attention. It truly may be a matter of hitting one button- enter.
I read an article that said they have been doing all sorts of tests of their alert system recently and bringing back the cold war security things that were done away with because of the threats from NK. So it is possible it was an accident by an employee. Otherwise it would seem pretty hinky to me too.
What amazed me is all over social media people in Hawaii were posting there was no shelters to go to...no place to go. What happened to all the actual fallout shelters? I know the answer is people didn’t see the need, used the space for storage- basically let them go. There has to be many shelters in Hawaii, they just are not known of or usable. With so many countries having nukes and NK threatening you would think the shelters would be reclaimed as shelters.
The article’s a crock of course. Hawaii just declared itself a missile warning sanctuary state, nothing more.

Oh, the horror! If it hadn’t been a fake alert, we would never, in the future, be able to get the hard evidence for any fake birth certificates...
