My understanding of the illegal situation is that it's cheaper to come across illegally, because you don't have to pay taxes on “under the table income,” and in most states you can claim benefits (courtesy of the taxpayers). My relative’s husband and his brothers all came in that way. During the amnesty of early 2000’s, he went back for several months and then came in legally. Pretty sure Jorge can do the same, still.
