Straws are private property. The owner of the property is free to give his property away. Now if you are a pinko communist, you think all property belongs to the government, and it naturally follows that the government is in charge of it’s redistribution.

Tucker Carlson had a defender of the law on his show the other night, and the guy claimed that no individual would be fined or jailed for non-compliance, but that their employers would be held accountable. He also claimed that one of the reasons for the law is that the oceans are filling up with plastic. I wish Carlson had asked: (1) if waiters won’t be fined, why does the law say that they can be fined?; and (2) how do the plastic straws served in restaurants end up in the oceans?

A waiter handing a patron a straw carries a heavier penalty than an illegal killing a citizen does.

What is wrong with this picture?

Such a law is unenforceable except by the “straw” police with photographic evidence and recording .

A extra large sugary soda in a plastic cup, with a plastic straw. De Blasio would go into convulsions at the thought.

Yep. Search titles, but not the whole title.

Pick one or two words from the title that wouldn’t show up very often.

Works most of the time.

The straw is deed the property of whom ever purchased it. The owner of the restaurant purchases them from the supply company. They most certainly are the property of the restaurant owner. Who pray tell do you think owns them? The owner of the property is free to give them away, if someone wants to buy them from the owner, so what? It does not change the rights of the property owner. With out property rights we have no freedom, we should resist infringing on property rights if we value our freedom.

Can’t you see this charging a thousand dollars for giving away some property is an assault on freedom?

Now any snotty elitist type customer who gets offended by a service faux pas and does everything possible to get a server fired has a new weapon in their arsenal.

“THE SERVER OFFERED ME A STRAW!”
