Well they did ‘remove’ the bulk of the population so that what happened in Egypt wouldn’t unfold as it did in Egypt.
But are they ready for it?......the corruption in ‘municipalities’ far far exceeds anything Putin and the Doma pull of.....thick in corruption hardly says enough....and the local peoples know this all to well.
Well the lamestream media is acting very Russian these days.
And the protests in Iran? That was Soros and Hillary too?
I believe they would finally do although corruption is a problem.
Municipalities are still handling money for their projects but these are mostly state and federal money.
They don’t have much ways to attract own money being mostly property taxes and profits from municipal utility enterprises. The first is way too low in Russia to make difference and the latter are usually running at loss the way they do elsewhere.
I also believe they should up the property tax at municipal level and cut social security on federal level to compensate taxpayers. That would give municipalities funds to develop infrastructure easing federal and state infrastructural burdens.
Iranian protests are missing critical features allowing to identify it as ‘color’ revolution. In that sense I didn’t put it into mix.
BTW the Boycott rallies already beginning for Sunday have been organized by Alexei Navalny. He has to be very careful, (and he’s not), that he doesn’t organize these rallies as anti-government, which is exactly what boycotting an election is. Can’t do that in RUssia without being arrested so he leaves himslef wide open for just that.....therefore is that what he’s looking for?
I don’t think Navalny is as interested in winning ‘this election’ as much as building his own popularity for 2024....
I believe he would be yesterday news in 2024.
I love Putin...brains to be spattered by shot to head.
Most evil country and govt in world.
My take is people boycotting elections do not deserve representation. They say Putin is a dominating political landscape? Okay. Bring your guy and beat him. These idiots have nothing to offer and messing elections up.
“I believe he would be yesterday news in 2024.”
Agreed. The initial protests early last year were successful though in that they gave young people just enough hope and a sense of solidarity to stay tuned for a post-Putin future.
For them it was not about Navalny so much as finding their voice and knowing they have each other’s support in wanting a different political reality in Russia. I knew three people who went: one in Moscow, one in St. P, and one in Ekaterinburg. But for others, including Russians I have met here in L.a.: it t was enough solace to know that there are indeed people against Putin despite not saying it. And that the belief that Russia could have a real future is alive.
Plus it has kept the Kremlin on its toes and Putin’s had to be more accountable about delivering on certain economic promises to keep people content enough in the interim.
Navalny is a Soros sock puppet whose goal is to ‘delegitimize’ Putin and the Russian democratic process.
The goal is to destabilize the country and crate chaos, a game western elites have been playing for centuries.
liberal media try their best to deny the democratic legitimacy of the EU referendum outcome, the election 2016,
so there are plenty of reasons to question their credibity, especially when they spread the “news” about issues like democracy,freedom.........
The nut who wants to reconquer Alaska? Better than a commie but that’s not saying much. In whichever order 2nd and 3rd place seem just as assured and both of them make Putin look like a good option.
I’d probably vote for Ksenia Sobchak who is polling about 1%, for all know she’s a Putin plant though.
Tsars then commies now a strongman, I don’t see democracy walking in that door anytime soon, it can’t even place third.
The nutters come and go and so would the habit of certain people to vote Communists.
