"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas"

Every day I wake up a new present! For "Her" it is Ground Hogs Day, the Movie

The possibility of 3 or more SCJ's in 45's terms? I was hoping for 2, but now 3 is not out of the question, wow...

Think where we would be without the electoral college and think how many of us would be in metapphorical chains, that is right I said it, they would have taken the weaponization of every dept to the next level, at a minimum audits up the ying-yang.

This never gets old...

My God, these are the people who control the future of the Country. Our founding Father’s did NOT envision this.

I was just thinking that. No one ever imagined these people would put their massive egos against the good of their country - but they obviously do, hanging in there decades after they should be propped up in front of a TV watching reruns of Judge Judy and “Golden Girls.”

It’s really not up to her. The “Grim Reaper “ will weigh in sooner or later.

That would cause all of the other members to retire immediately.

——giddy-—

I don’t think so. Evidence? None.

The article is drivelous speculation that could have been lifted from numerous threads here on Free Republic.

I saw last night that Buzzy is going to try to outlive the Trump Presidency, so unless God decides otherwise, she ain’t going anywhere.

Ok...give them Ann Coulter or Laura Ingram, or Judge Pirro.

Now, you're thinking. Except these would be the *first* choice that would make the libs recoil in horror so that they expend all their money and bile defeating her, making it easier for Trump to get through their second choice, a woman who is just as conservative but not as well-known.

It would make sense for Trump to be well prepared with a set of well-vetted candidates, even if there is no immediate opening.

But once ANY of the non-conservative justices are replaced, it makes the position of the remaining liberals futile. If Kennedy is no longer the swing vote, why stay? If Ginsberg will always be on the losing side, why stay?

My God, these are the people who control the future of the Country. Our founding Father’s did NOT envision this.

The power of judges comes from the civil service laws.

In Andrew Jackson's time, the Supremes issued an order to the executive branch in Worcester v. Georgia. Jackson allegedly responded "John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it!" This was because any executive branch person attempting to comply with the judges rather than the President's wishes could be immediately fired.

What leftist court rulings do, is provide cover for leftist bureaucrats to act in leftist ways, and not be fired for insubordination.

In 1968 Earl Warren told LBJ that he would retire effective on his successor being confirmed. LBJ picked Abe Fortas (already an associate justice) but conservatives blocked his confirmation. Warren retired in 1969 and Nixon then replaced him with Warren Burger. Meanwhile Abe Fortas resigned over an ethical issue...so Nixon had two vacancies to fill right away. Reportedly Warren would have stayed on if he had realized that Nixon would get to pick his successor (he died in 1974 so eventually Nixon might have gotten to pick his successor...but that happened a month before Nixon resigned so more likely Ford would have made the choice).

Warren may have felt that Nixon double-crossed him in 1952. Warren was a "favorite son" candidate from California at the Republican National Convention and Nixon, as senator from California, was expected to support him, but Nixon backed Eisenhower instead. But of course Warren wanted the Court to continue on its liberal course. I think Ike said picking Warren was his worst mistake, or one of his worst mistakes.

then raise the court count to 11, nine isn't carved in stone...

While we're at it, make the census count residents and citizens, and assigning House seats based on citizens residing in a state.

If the Senate were to vote on most matters using 50% rule, we’d get a lot done. Time to demand it.

I see it as an opportunity that bodes well for the country, no matter how hard the Left tries to fight back. They are losing everything but their shirts, since black Democrats are realizing they are still slaves.
