No offense but HELL NO! Idris Elba could be A OO but he should never be OO7/James Bond. Why is that such a difficult thing for people to understand. James Bond is a white male. He has a history/backstory that makes him who he is. Making a woman or person of color james bond is just stupid. You are asking people to just ignore everything they know and accept something that makes no sense.
Far better to cast Idris Elba as a OO agent in the james bond world. If it has the same budget/treatment as a OO movie it should do just fine. The problem is nowadays the studios dont want to take a chance on such a thing (or their market research tells them that such a project won’t pay off so they want to ride the coattails of a successful franchise but be able to say we are “inclusive”.
The whole thing stinks because everyone is afraid to just tell the truth. The rest of the world isn’t interested in such PC Bull Shite and they won’t pay for it. That should be the deciding factor. Everything else is just noise.

your statement would make sense if the Bond movies were still about the cold War. But ever since Brosnan, that has changed. The latest Craig movies are not set in the same universe as the Connery flicks. Hence a black actor would do just as well. Remember that Bond’s character has changed from Connery to Moore to Dalton to Brosnan and now Craig. So a change of skin tone is fine — what is sacrosant is that he is supposed to be quintessentially English — and Idris Alba, ignoring the skin tone IS as English as Brosnan if not more.
