Here’s seven simple steps that can and should be implemented overnight across the country and in similar fashion school shootings would be eliminated. This list is not exhaustive but is a starting point where good-willed people can come together to make a significant difference now.

  1. Metal Detectors In Every School

  2. Enforce Everything

  3. Perform Active Shooter Drills

  4. Reinforce Doors, Windows, Buses, Locks

  5. Recruit Retired Military & Law Enforcement

  6. Arm All Appropriate Personnel

  7. Publicize Consequence

Nothing about the ACLU\(D), but I repeat myself, flooding us w/ crazies after opening the asylum gates.

IMO, the easiest fix:
- Terminate any/all property taxes
- Terminate any/all unions/DoEd
- Parent(s)\Guardian(s) pay for the education of their brood (say, every quarter..1/2 year).
- Schools/institutions give 1 warning; then expulsion w/ NO REFUNDS

Wanna see parents worry about quality of schools/teachers/education? Make ‘em write a check.

Wanna see parents involved w/ their kids education/behavior, let ‘em ‘lose’ a few $K for expulsion. I bet it won’t happen a 2nd time.

"Do these same freepers think teachers with a few trips to the range and a gun course are gonna make a difference in an active firefight?"

You'd be surprised how often a "granny" who has never used a gun picks one up and blows a perp away with surprising accuracy.

So yes......

“They need to be put in special schools with drill sergeants and work details”...........

There was such a facility specifically for “those in need”. It was located on a Wisconsin National Guard base. Several brick barracks, high fences all around....had to remove it because some lib judge(s) decided the “punishment” was too harsh. It is believed that most of the prior “residents” now reside in Madison, Milwaukee, Racine and Waukesha.

These guys are usually packing heavy and spraying bullets.

But #### it, better a few teachers dying than 2 dozen kids when some nut busts in.

With our educational system’s teachers, it might be a bonus lol

There was a caller on one of the shows whose school district called in the local cops the day after Sandy Hook to come in and make recommendations.

Unfortunately I was driving and couldn’t take notes, but a number of the suggestions were dead simple.

One was to invite the cops to do their report writing at the school, giving them a frequent and random presence there, rather than at the local Starbucks. They implemented that one the very next day.

Another was to have the SROs (School Resource Officers) keep their ARs in a readily accessible safe on the campus, rather than require them to leave them out in their cars.

Others required a bit more work, restricting entry to a single point, ability to lock down zones to isolate an assailant, and to provide video feed from their existing cameras to responding officers in their patrol cars.

The article overlooked the obvious answer ...

You already have school choice. You can send your kids to public schools, send your kids to private schools, or homeschool them. What choice is missing in all that?

Do these same freepers think teachers with a few trips to the range and a gun course are gonna make a difference in an active firefight?

Fact: Of the 2,500,000 times (per year) citizens use guns to defend themselves, 92% merely brandish their gun or fire a warning shot to scare off their attackers.

Source: http://www.gunfacts.info/pdfs/gun-facts/7.1/Gun-Facts-7.1-screen.pdf

I would contend that there would be no "active firefight" at least 90% of the time that a teacher uses a gun to stop a shooter.

90% is a lot.

The guns on campus fight was pretty tough to get in Texas but it seems that we have had a pretty good experience with it. The creeps go elsewhere or decide to not do it.
The presence of guns in teachers hands and in ccw’s hands on campus seems to be a real deterrent.

The first step is to use truthful language. There are no gun free zones there are only criminal gun zones. Always correct that phrase and use the second one.

Always say to gun grabbers, “you want kids dead”. It is truthful in two ways.
Gun control will never happen nor be effective, it is a unicorn. In order to feed their unicorn, dems, libs and teachers need dead kids. In failing to protect kids they must want kids dead.

Then ask them how can they be so evil, have they always been this evil, and if their parents were also evil like them.

Forcing good kids to be at the mercy of these bums and malcontents and deliquents is the problem

I've often said the same thing.

But, the little darlings need to be mainstreamed, so that Mom and Dad (or Gramma and her kid's children by five different fathers) can pretend that everything is just fine.

Or, at least, not need to look up from Candy Crush on their smartphones.

The next time some wacko drives 90 mph down the wrong way of a street crashing into cars and killing people, lets ignore the crazy and demand stronger traffic laws.

Vouchers.

For the benefit of people who can't afford to take time off work and can't afford to pay for private schools.

Government subsidized private schools. What could possibly go wrong with that?

If you want your kids to be educated outside of public schools then you find a way. My dad worked the line at the Ford plant and still my parents sent me to 12 years of Catholic school. Where there is a will there is a way.

Our kids only went to elementary school for a couple of years but even then, we drove them to the next town over to an A rated school instead of letting them go to the Failing school that the bus would have taken them to.

The middle school they would have gone to had lock downs on a regular basis. Cops would pull up to the end of the road that led to the school, block the road and jump out holding a shotgun. Who knows what was going on in the school.

The school we drove them to, while being A rated, started to fill up with liberal/leftist teachers. When we met their two teachers one year, they both talked down to us like we were children so that public school year lasted three days. We knew we were moving in a few months anyway so we pulled them out.

Only regret is that we don’t socialize enough ourselves so the kids don’t get much socialization either but when they do, we get nothing but compliments on their behavior so I guess we didn’t do half bad.

We tried the both parents working thing but hated it anyway. Most of one paycheck was going to pay for daycare and extra fuel for running them to and from. They were learning bad habits from other kids. Mostly light brown kids with a blonde white momma and no husband.

We also got out of multicultural Florida.

In order for any of the above to work, one first has to address the issue of what to do with a person willing to kill large numbers of other people, and address why they are willing to kill this way. Until you do that, regulating the tools used is a pointless exercise.
Suppose instead of using an AR-15, Cruz had simply dumped a bunch of activated insect foggers (bug bombs) down the schools central AC/Heat air intake? These insecticides are generally either neurotoxins or respiratory agents. Chlorine bleach mixed with ammonia would have the same effect (chloramine gas). By the time anybody realized something was wrong, it would be too late. The sound of the gunfire from the AR-15 alerted students that something was wrong and gave them time to take cover or try to escape.
As I said, trying to change the tool used will not solve the problem - only by making sure that those whose mindset/morals would allow them to kill large numbers of people will.

Edit to final part of above post: “only by making sure that those whose mindset/morals would allow them to kill large numbers of people secured so that they are not physically able to kill (ie psychiatric or legal incarceration) will.

One thing is for sure - with the non-stop attention on this shooter, 24/7, for a week now, there’s someone out there planning to get noticed the same way. A shooting has to be reported, but dwelling on it this way will only bring another one on.
