Democrat Phil Spagnuolo won a special election in New Hampshire's Belknap County District 3 on Tuesday night 968-841 (54%-46%). It is the 38th state legislative flip from Democrat to Republican since President Trump's inauguration. The contest for this state House race pitted Spagnuolo, a substance abuse recovery coach, against Republican Les Cartier, a former employee at the state fire marshal's office. The seat was left open after the death of Republican State Rep. Donald Flanders last September. Donald Trump won the district by a sizable 54-41 margin in 2016, four years after Barack Obama carried it by just one point, 50-49.

The RNC knows how to craft a good message but they can’t translate it to poll victories.

So they are reporting breathlessly about a county-level seat? Really???

This is a sign of desperation.

NH is no longer a GOP state.

Obama carried it twice easily. I wouldn’t read too much into a state special election...

or its a sign of complacency by the GOP...

keep brushing these aside rather than working on GOTV and the republicans are going to get smoked in November- then again they’ve perfected the art of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory...

I tend to think they’re holding their fire for the November polls. The Dems have been raising outsized sums of money for special elections. The question is whether these funds will come at the expense of the dollars available for November. Note that the media is highlighting these anecdotal results in isolation. What were the comparable special election results in 2014? 2010?

841 votes. There were only 1800 votes in the entire election. 25,000 voted in 2016 in the same district.

During Hussein’s time in power, the DEMON RATS lost about ONE THOUSAND SEATS. 1000/8=125 seats a year.

A year+ in, and the fake news is wanting me to sweat 38 state seats?

Good luck.

What is the RNC doing wrong?

They are running Republicans for office, that's what.

Does it not mean something to you that Trump, running for President, crushed 17 Republicans of all flavors and attitudes?

The Republican name is lower than dirt - and, truth be told, deservedly so.

This is the great flaw of a two-party system. The only way to punish nonfeasance and malfeasance is to send in the other guy.

Normal presidential election turnout in this district is 25,000.

This is about 1,800 people...

why does it say -

It is the 38th state legislative flip from Democrat to Republican...

isn’t it the other way around?

RINOS fighting against Trump at every opportunity does not inspire voters.

It started with Virginia. The dems were bleeding badly in every special election. They went into the full voter fraud mode and they haven’t stopped. With the special elections they can focus on each race with their voter fraud. They are both adding and now subtracting Republican votes.
