France had no age of consent laws? That’s what they seem to be trying to tell us. Why wasn’t the 11 year old covered?

From the article it sounds like there is no “age of consent” at present, so if there are no significant injuries to the child, it is considered consentual and is therefore not rape. They are establishing an age of consent, not reducing it.
It’s just a clever ploy to get aged Hollywood moguls to move their studios to Paris without having to pay tax subsidies.

Jeeze people, read article! There was no age. Muslims wanted it to stay that way. They faught hard against establishing ANY age. The battle’s been going on for quite awhile. Years.

In fact, the French DO get upset about young people having affairs with older people. The famous incident of Gabrielle Russier and her lover is an example. If they felt so bad, they should have raised the age then.
Here in Canada, our most left wing party, the NDP, has always tried to get 14 as the age of consent.
