“...beheading as a punishment...”

Full body-drop hanging can do that, too, and often did in the old West.

Don’t see a problem with that. Dead is dead, and death should be the penalty for murder.

I’ve seen videos done and it’s usually with a skilled swordsman that whacks it off in an instant. This isn’t the cutting from the front torture afiak. We have the death penalty, this is bit more brutal but possibly more painless than the crazy IV stuff we use here.

I’ve advocated for the return of the guillotine for certain crimes

It isn’t the method, it is the timeframe.

In most (if not all) states that have the death penalty, the chances are good a convicted killer sent to Death Row will outlive the family of his victims, the prosecutors, judge and witnesses.

I’m okay with that penalty - if the person is guilty. Murder, rape, attempted murder, attempted rape, harboring illegal immigrants, and many other crimes that do exceptionally grave harm to the society certainly merit that punishment.

Beheading sounds like an option to me for 1st Degree murder. For 2nd Degree murder, life in prison!

Hadith (sayings of Mohammad, which forms the basis for Sharia Law):

Sahih Bukhari Volume 001, Book 003, Hadith Number 111.

Narated By Ash-Sha'bi : Abu Juhaifa said, "I asked Ali, 'Have you got any book (which has been revealed to the Prophet apart from the Qur'an)?' 'Ali replied, 'No, except Allah's Book or the power of understanding which has been bestowed (by Allah) upon a Muslim or what is (written) in this sheet of paper (with me).' Abu Juhaifa said, "I asked, 'What is (written) in this sheet of paper?' Ali replied, it deals with The Diyya (compensation (blood money) paid by the killer to the relatives of the victim), the ransom for the releasing of the captives from the hands of the enemies, and the law that no Muslim should be killed in Qisas (equality in punishment) for the killing of (a disbeliever).

It is FORBIDDEN under Sharia law to execute a Muslim for killing a non-Muslim. Meanwhile, a non-Muslim is forbidden to strike a Muslim, even in self defense. Doing so would trigger a jihad pogrom against the entire Christian community.
