Correct. This action by the schools, if it actually happens, will cost the students absolutely nothing. It will only give them bragging rights.

I’d lower every last one of their GPA’s BY .5.

I am glad you weren’t at my kids school when I took them out for a 1/2 day civics lesson - a World Series Championship Parade.

Honestly I am okay with these kids going out, they are learning to protest and yes freedom of speech, and maybe some people could take time to show them they were used by the democrats and nothing will happen.

Back when Dinosaurs roamed the Earth ... and I ruled my classroom ... I would warn ahead of time that on any given “skip” day there would be a test, worth a meaningful fraction of the semester grade. Make-ups (except for illness with a physician’s note) would not be permitted.

I can't just take off work to protest any time I want to, without consequences. Can you? Even if you're self employed, there's a cost. Students' job is to study, not run around agitating.

“How about firing the teachers who instigated this crap.”

Better: How about charging the teachers who instigated this crap with kidnapping.

...students who participated in the walkout will be cited for cutting class...

Will that end up being like when Congress cited Eric Holder in contempt?

Beth Brotherton used to be an anchor on a local NBC news station. Go figure.

Spend a few days in Greenville and you’ll believe it.

Can’t staff a local school district with Marxists if there aren’t any for a hundreds miles in any direction.

Finally! Let the little snowflakes know they must pay a price for skipping school. My generation used to fear “the report assignment” as a cruel and unusual form of discipline.

How about a hand written (in ink and in cursive script) 2 or more page report (on standard theme paper) in the language of the realm (English) expressing “their” views on the 1st Amendment right (pro or con) to protest . It must be titled “The Whyness of Which, and If So, Why Not”.

Caveats: Reports CANNOT be written in pencil or crayon, printed or typewritten, on papyrus or animal skins or magnetic media or other unapproved document forms, in Latin or other languages or unknown tongues, using symbols or pictures in lieu of words, or plagiarized from other sources. No AI will be allowed. Violations will not be acceptable and points will be deducted accordingly.

Since all snow flakes are “equal” and have exceptional IQs, the reports should be interesting to say the least. Those completing the assignment will be nominated for the next Nobel Peace Prize.

I am pretty sure children in school do not have a constitutional right to freedom of speech, per se. For example, you can’t have a long conversation with another student while the teacher is giving instruction. You will be sent to the principal’s office and eventually suspended or expelled if you keep it up.

So this idea that a walkout is guaranteed by the First Amendments is pretty laughable. There are a lot of rights minor students don’t have or can’t exercise at school.

Another example. The school can open your locker at any time for any reason without your approval to see what you have in there. I think most don’t to give students a reasonable amount of privacy, but they CAN. They don’t need a judge to sign a warrant for it, like a police officer would have to do with your gym locker at a private gym.

Minor children don’t have legal rights per se and especially not at school.

Yep. But that won’t happen because the administrations approves of their teachers action. There are not many conservatives among school administrators.

If I was a teacher, I would have scheduled a test for the day, worth 50% of their final grade. No make-ups.
