SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Police Chief William McManus confirmed a second package was found to be loaded with an explosive device at a FedEx facility on Tuesday.

He said the package was removed from the facility and was being 'worked on' by investigators. When pressed for more information, an SAPD spokesperson said off-camera, 'We can't talk about it.'

No talk needed. Likely the first thing they did was immerse the whole package in liquid nitrogen before scanning it.

The package might have DNA evidence - wouldn't liquid nitrogen destroy that?

wouldn’t liquid nitrogen destroy that? ( DNA)>>>>>>>

Yes and no.Some would be destroyed from freezing and thawing but other types such as bodily fluid stains would not.

If the bomb could easily be defused, then they would not immerse it in liquid nitrogen.

But it seems these bombs are sensitive.

When in the name of all that is good are we going to enact sensible package laws?

Is this retribution for Fed Ex’s refusal to boycott the NRA?”

That was absolutely the first thing I thought of when I heard it was FedEx being targeted. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

They’re going to have to get bomb-sniffing dogs.

“SCHERTZ 12:50 p.m. update: San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said he misspoke when he claimed a second suspicious package was found at a FedEx facility in Schertz, where a package bomb exploded early Tuesday.

San Antonio police said a second device was not found and the department will issue a correction, police spokesman said.”

WTF, how can someone make that kind of mistake???

Official FedEx Statement:

“FedEx has confirmed that a package detonated at a San Antonio FedEx Ground facility early this morning. We have also confirmed that the individual responsible also shipped a second package that has now been secured and turned over to law enforcement. We are thankful that there were no serious injuries from this criminal activity. We have provided law enforcement responsible for this investigation extensive evidence related to these packages and the individual that shipped them collected from our advanced technology security systems. The safety and security measures in place across the FedEx networks are designed to protect the safety of our people, customers and communities, and to assist law enforcement as appropriate.”

What second package is FedEx talking about? The “suspicious package” being investigated at the FedEx facility in Austin or the second bomb SAT confirmed and then disputed.

When in the name of all that is good are we going to enact sensible package laws?

1) All packages containing bombs must be labeled as such.

2) All schools, public facilities, etc, shall post signs stating they are "Bomb Free Zones."

It's the way we roll.

QUESTION: Who is doing this? Antifa? Or David Hogg, who threatened the NRA? Or some other party?

There have been no updates on the Austin “suspicious package”. Basically, no denial of a bomb, so maybe that is the second bomb FedEx referred to.

Maybe SAT police chief got confused on the second bomb thinking it was in Schertz when it was in Austin.

There is definitely video of the guy in the FedEx store. Maybe in the strip mall also.

I fully support a minimum age of 21 for shipping packages. It’s the only sensible thing to do.

It’s too bad we don’t have an effective federal investigative bureau that could look into this.

I found a little tidbit.

The bomb with the tripwire....a neighbor said he and his wife walked by the spot at 7:45. The explosion happened at 8:32 (Naut Twilight time). It may be that they are placed shortly before they go off.

In fact....the perp might even be watching from a short distance. Watching?? That's just a thought.

Some info:

“Alyssa Goard observed FBI agents at the Brodie Lane FedEx measuring doors with a tape measure and covering some entrances with butcher paper inside the location.
A robbery detective told KXAN that method is used to determine height.”

“A source briefed on the investigation tells NBC’s Gabe Gutierrez police were about to blow up a suspected bomb at the FedEx facility near the Austin airport. The source says officials believe the suspected bomber mailed two packages from a FedEx drop-off center in Austin. One of them exploded at a Schertz, Texas, FedEx facility, while the other arrived at the McKinney Falls Parkway FedEx facility.”

For some reason, 1 package was sent to Austin FedEx facility and 1 to the Schertz Facility. Presumably both were being sent to Austin addresses. Don’t know FedEx’s procedures on which facility gets the packages. You’d think the Austin facility would get both packages. But maybe sent to different facilities based on destination address.

Thanks....Makes me think even more that a FedEx employee is involved.

An employee could easily and "safely" introduce a package into the system and in a video, it could look like an ordinary transaction. And then he or another can drive it to the FedEx office where he made it relatively unsafe.

I have all these scenarios in my head. I do think there is more than one....maybe as many as 3 involved.

A zip code map might be the key.

Anyone could get a package into the system. Steal a shipping document, drop the package off over the counter at a fedex office location or walgreens. or print a shipping document off at the library with stolen id- credit card - leave in a drop box. there is a lot of larceny of this type. I am 10 months retired from fedex after 30+ years.
