The Smithsonian Institution has relocated its official portrait of former first lady Michelle Obama to a larger space in the National Portrait Gallery because of a high volume of visitors.
The portrait, by Baltimore-based artist Amy Sherald, was unveiled last month, alongside one of former President Obama by Kehinde Wiley.
Visitors have poured into the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., since the Obamas portraits were installed.
About 176,000 people visited the museum last month, the largest number in a month in three years, CNN reported.
The former first lady paid a visit to 2-year-old Smithsonian visitor Parker Curry earlier this month, after a photo of Curry staring at the portrait went viral.
It showed up on another episode later, too. :-)
This country is NOT stupid @ss.....just nearly half of the citizens are.
But it doesn’t even look remotely like her. It’s what she would want to look like, I’m sure, but in reality, there’s no resemblance.
The flattering portrait painter of the past has gotten himself a new contract.
“Guess who theyre grooming to run for President...”
My moonbat sister was screaming for Mikey on Nov. 9, 2016.
I believe this, people want to see this person who has 4 foot arms. Maybe it should be in the museum of natural science.
Demolished? All the better, plenty of green space available for Former FLOTUS to continue the Plantation Initiative she started. Plenty of happy singing young urban pioneers from da hood....could call it Obamawakanda country.
;>)
Viewing the portrait is in high demand. Not too many people have seen an Alien Gray before.
Vacant land where an old shopping mall was? Yep could be a plantation now...... sarcasm......
Needed a larger space for that wide-stance.
Well, it was more than a bus stop. The area around the mall went downhill, so the mall was very close to bad neighborhoods. Decent people avoided the mall, stores closed, a bad element was hanging around, etc.
I recall when the mall was still open, some black activist types, blamed the mall owner for.problems, due to not providing adequate security or recruiting better stores as tenants.
But what went unsaid, was why the mall needed so much security, or why higher end stores did not set up shop in that mall.
in these trying times, we all need a reason to laugh and giggle at something funny to look at....oh wait a minute...that’s the other portrait...the one with the monkey sitting in a field of poison ivy or some other “weed” in a one armed chair.
It's not the whole country.
It's about 20%. But they're concentrated in big cities so it seems like there are more of them.
I don't get all the hatred. The Obamas are yesterday's news. Already half forgotten.
They were originally painted nude.
Well, that’s what Amy said.
Shortly afterwards, the artist committed suicide.
So which one caused the suicide?
Amy?
Penny?
Combination?
yes much like the busline in front of Beachwood Place in Ohio
Who wants to see a very bad painting of that tranny?
Black is gray
“Smithsonian moves Michelle Obama portrait to larger space over high demand”
How bout we create a higher demand to move it to OUTER space?
Dart gallery?
