Hell exists...

Hell is what happens when a soul holds on to sin while being in God’s Love. Just as God’s Love casts out all fear, those who chose to try holding onto the fear end up fearing God’s Light and try to hide from it as they think it will kill them.

satan’s great lie, “The Light will kill you.”

This guy HAS read the book, hasn’t he? Between this, the Lord is a drag queen, and fawning over the faggies? WTF Catholics?

Not a big fan of this Pope. He's like the Catholic church version of Obama.

But this isn't the first time the media has "misreported" things regarding the Catholic church, and probably won't be the last.

Last thing we need on this forum is to help perpetuate what may likely be a falsehood.

which implies he was never a child of God.

“They’ve been using the translation excuse ever since this man became pope.”

The problem is he never comes out himself to correct these “misspokes”, “misunderstandings” and “mistranslations”.

Nor does it require a physical location.

Certainly does. The soul is real and physical and that requires space. God designed dimensions and the reality of space. He lives outside of space and time since they are His creation but we are confined to their physical properties in this dimension. The next dimension still has space but not time. John's description of Heaven certainly casts aside any doubt of that.

The eternal punishment is not fire and brimstone and devils poking you with pitchforks.

It is for Satan and his angels. (Rev 20:10, Matthew 25:41)

The eternal punishment is exclusion from God's grace and presence.

Quite true. And they will suffer that exclusion in the plane known as Hell. (Luke 16:23)

That doesn't require a place for that to happen.

Yep, it does. Christ acknowledges the reality of the existence of the soul, with that is physicality and space requirements. Once the soul leaves the body, it goes to be in the presence of the Lord to receive judgement (Hebrews 9:27) where the righteous will go to eternal reward and the unrighteous to eternal damnation/punishment (Matthew 25:46).

Pope Francis' statement, even if it is accurate, keeps the concept of eternal damnation and does not conflict in any substantial way from the teachings of Scripture.

TBH, I have not read the Pope's statement and he very well could have been mis-quoted (likely) but if he is stating that the physical location of Hell does not exist, then he stands in opposition to Christ. To wit:

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. -Matthew 10:28

Lots of evidence for God in existence, but none whatsoever for a devil until humans begin to abstract him from within their own minds.

Ummmm, try studying the Bible.

Since the whole system is flawed by your own admission, how can anyone believe Catholicism isn’t itself fundamentally flawed? Why even have a Pope then? This just proved the whole rigamarole about the white smoke and black smoke is a farce.

Matthew 25:41

41 “Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels;

I’ve done many exorcisms over the years. All I do is pray and the Light gets so bright that they cower and try to hide from it. For me, the Light feels like Love.

Then I guide the spirit to look within itself to the depth of its soul. There they find a spark of Light within them. This I use to convince them that they have been deceived by satan.

Perhaps this Pope should revisit scripture.

Yes, and the College of Cardinals reconsider their selection.

Yep.

That’s kind of a big problem.

>>Pope Francis says, “They are not punished, those who repent obtain the forgiveness of God and enter the rank of souls who contemplate him, but those who do not repent and cannot therefore be forgiven disappear. There is no hell, there is the disappearance of sinful souls.”<<

Where is that in the Bible? It’s not there. So yeah, he contradicts Scripture, big time.

Hell is what a soul experiences when it is stuck here without a physical body.

It contradicts reality too.

Interesting idea, but no basis in scripture. Christ talked about demons wandering through “arid places” but not the human soul.

Wrong

The system is designed by God. It certainly is not flawed nor did I say that it was.

Humans are flawed.

It is everyone’s own business to find out the truth. It is readier to follow the tenets of the Church when there is leadership but one can always just go back to Jesus, the only non flawed person, and listen to what he said
