24 million could skip Census because of citizenship question: Report
The Washington Times ^ | March 30, 2018 | Stephen Dinan

The man who ran the 2000 census for the Clinton administration predicted Friday that more than 24 million people may refuse to take part in the 2020 count now that the survey is going to ask about citizenship status.

Robert Shapiro, who was under secretary at the Commerce Department during the 2000 count, called the decision to ask about citizenship “dangerous.”

He predicted 6.8 million illegal immigrants will duck the count altogether, as would about half of the 8.8 million legal residents who live in a household with an illegal immigrant present. The other half, he said, will likely lie and claim the illegal immigrants are citizens, further distorting the count.

~snip~

Mr. Shapiro said the losses could cost immigrant-heavy states such as California and Texas seats in Congress, while poor states that rely heavily on government assistance programs such as Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky and West Virginia would suffer the loss of funding.

Obviously Democrap modus operandi. Next exlection is very important for Republicans to keep control.
“Various studies have been done on the effects of this distortion, including by Leonard Steinhorn of American University and scholars at Texas A&M University and the Center for Immigration Studies. If you calculate the results based on the latest Census numbers, according to Steinhorn, ten states each are short a congressional seat that they would otherwise have if apportionment were based on citizen population: Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania.
States with large numbers of illegal aliens and other noncitizens have congressional seats they otherwise would not have (and should not be entitled to): California (five seats), Florida (one seat), New York (one seat), Texas (two seats), and Washington State (one seat).”

Why not? They answer that question at the DMV, bank when opening an account or applying for a loan, college application, etc.. Not too sure about when they apply for social services though.

I always just put the required and when they came to visit, during football season on A SUNDAY, I told the guy to get lost I answered the questions and slammed the door in his face.

All the districts in my city are getting changed to better represent ‘Hispanic voters’, the districts were redrawn with the help of a ILLEGAL ALIEN RIGHTS GROUP. Hopefully they will be raided by ICE and deported along with most of their client list.

Good...Then when an area has more registered voters than it has citizens we can disqualify the votes of all of them...I’m sure not too many of the illegal Mexicans vote Republican...

and 10 million more think they are secure enough to lie on the census. It wouldn’t matter to me because I just answer all census questions with the number of people residing in this domicile. I worked for the Census Bureau in 1990 and 2000. I actually worked from 1988 for the 90 job because, pre computer, they were updating all their maps and I was going around measuring distances on my odometer and marking maps out in the countryside. I learned a lot and also concluded that the Constitutional mandate is only for the number of people living at a location. They will tell you that you can be prosecuted if you don’t answer but they won’t because they are not legally sound.

On balance the Republicans would appear to do ok in these states-— Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania.

In Florida and Texas the reapportionment process would likely hit Democrat districts the most. So even though Florida and Texas might have fewer Congressional seats, the majority of illegals may currently live in Democrat districts.

Obama and Clinton judges are probably writing their ‘cease and desist’ orders now. But with two years to go, Trump will have time to take the case through the Supreme Court prior to the 2020 census.

Robert Shapiro, who was under secretary at the Commerce Department during the 2000 count, called the decision to ask about citizenship “dangerous.”

What is this man talking about?

According to the federal Census website, the question WAS asked in 2000 in the Clinton administration census, supposedly Shapiro's census.

See this link to the public information version 2000 census long form, currently on the US Census website. Question 13 is:

Is this person a CITIZEN of the United States?

Why is Shapiro saying it's a dangerous question now?

See my post #112, which links to the US Census website's copy of the 2000 census long form, where the question is SPECIFICALLY asked.

“Why is Shapiro saying it’s a dangerous question now?”

Because he knows it’ll prevent his occupation force from holding out

As I understand things Trump will have the citizenship question on the Census Short Form.

The Census Long Form only goes to a small percent of the population

“””The stark warning came days after Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross announced the Census Bureau will reinstate a question about citizenship on the full 2020 count.”””

Above is from the Washington Examiner story-— the citizenship question will be on the full 2020 census count, not just the long form which only goes to a small percent of the population.

I was present when my daughter was visited by a census taker.
The woman next door was not home and the census taker tried to make my daughter answer the questions for her.

True, but even having it on the long form in 2000 goes a long way towards rebutting the argument that including the question is "dangerous," since it WAS asked in 2000, limited or otherwise.

Weird, since we are to believe there are perpetually only 12 million illegal aliens here.
