White House chief of staff John Kelly has urged President Trump to fire embattled EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt, whose ethics and judgment are being questioned over a series of decisions he has made involving spending, housing and his management style.
Kelly and other White House officials have concluded that Pruitt should leave, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday. But Trump is continuing to back Pruitt, viewing him as an effective implementer of his deregulatory agenda by gutting or delaying a number of EPA regulations imposed by the Obama administration.
Trump on Friday decried what he views as a media “siege” facing the EPA chief and rejected other reports that have suggested he is considering replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions with Pruitt.

Sessions should be fired and Pruitt put in the AG spot.
If Kelly is really urging Pruitt’s firing, he should be fired.
The chief of staff is supposed to organize the White House staff, and keep the president’s calendar. He has no business setting policy or deciding who should hold cabinet positions. Also exactly what experience does a Marine General have in EPA matters?
Pruitt’s doing a great job.
Besides, he ain’t no criminal, and his crime it is none.
I think it’s possible to find an EPA Admin who will carry out Trump’s policies AND not be a jerk-burden.

Trump tweeted support for Pruitt, calling the reports fake news.
I read that Pruitt had applied for two of his employee’s he brought with him from OK for pay raises. They were denied. So he got them 30K and 50K raises by using the water safety act. The loophole says he can hire up to 30 people under safety provision to help with water safety issues. However, the two employee’s jobs did not change with their raises to include handling water safety issues.
Pruitt should have been smart enough to know the media would investigate, Dems would investigate endlessly, why give them even one impropriety to go after your job?
Trump hired some of the most brilliant folks and yet they do stupid things to bring this crap on themselves.

Pruitt says he didn’t know about the raises, and when he found out, he cancelled them.
(I heard him say this yesterday on the radio.)
Kelly’s voice in the debate over what to do with Pruitt may not matter so much, as the Washington Post and others have reported Trump is increasingly leaving his chief of staff out of major decisions.
Conservatives in Congress have mostly expressed continued support for Pruitt, or have said little, with the exception of three House Republicans who have said he should resign.
Meanwhile, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California became the latest Democrat to go all-in on ousting Pruitt.
