US denies Syrian reports of attack on air base, Israel stays silent

Syrian state TV said there were casualties in what it said was a suspected US missile attack on a major air base in central Syria but the United States denied it had launched any air strikes against the country.

The state broadcaster earlier said explosions were heard at the T-4 airfield near Homs, which is close to the ancient city of Palmyra in central Syria.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH), at least 14 military personnel, including Iranians, were among those killed in the strike that took place shortly before dawn.

A Syrian military source was quoted as saying air defences shot down eight missiles fired at the base, also known as the Tiyas Airbase, where defence analysts say there are large deployments of Russian forces, and where jets fly regular sorties to strike rebel-held areas.

This isn’t our fight. There’s been no Declaration of War. Let both sides kill each other and I don’t care how they do it.

I don’t think a person can just stand around and watch neighbors kill each other.

So what's holding you back?

“Many fled the Assad terror attacks to Germany. Only a few (now we can relatively use “a few” considering the large number), are Al-Qaeda or terrorist sympathizers....”

Well, aren’t you blessed. The Hungarian people just voted for a government that will refuse to allow Hungary to be similarly blessed.

I’ll note that even with a quote you have no argument against.

Maybe two faced europeans launched the air strike on Syria.

Saudi crown prince is touring Europe, it’s a good time for europeans to kiss his ass.

Good for Israel, indeed.

Its a sovereign nation taking action to defend itself.

The Israelis place tens of thousands of soldiers on their northern frontier with Lebanon and Syria because of Assad, his Iranian allies and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

President Trump needs to get tens of thousands of troops on the southern frontier of the United States facing Mexico instead of the piddling few thousand planned.

He needs to do that instead of worrying about Syria. Why can’t Israel take care of this problem on its border and America take care of the threat on our border.

So we should blow up terrorist Assad in favor of other terrorists, who have likewise brutalized civilians and members of other factions involved in this effed up conflict?

Assad protects Christians. That's more than can be said for other factions including some that we have supported.

Assad knows as well as anyone that using chemical weapons results in retribution by the US -- if he wants the populations of gassed areas to flee, why do his forces have the area encircled and locked down, or so it has been reported.

It's possible that Assad has determined that he can absorb the most likely limited strikes from the US, but it's also possible that this instance of chemical weapons use is an op by some other faction to draw heat on Assad. Considering the circumstances, it seems like everbody, POTUS included, was extremely rapid in declaring that Assad's forces were behind this.

The problem with that is Assad, like Putin, is the head of a Terror State. No matter who is currently on his good side.

“I don’t think a person can just stand around and watch neighbors kill each other. What about the Good Samaritan Law, unwritten as it is?”

Like your gang-banger neighbors in Chicago and Baltimore killing each other for example? Aren’t you just standing around and watching that happen instead of applying the unwritten “Good Samaritan Law”?

Shouldn’t you apply the “Good Samaritan Law” to your neighbors here in the U.S. first, before you apply it to your “neighbors” in the Middle East and Africa who’ve been continuously killing each other for at least a thousand years?

I am not buying it. They could have accomplished just as much with conventional bombs without the bad press of chemical weapons.

Assad is not crazy. The man even protected Christians when he could when others would have slaughtered them.

Agree. Those wanting Assad removed have the motive to use chemical weapons. No logical reason for Assad to use chemical weapons.

Rebels? Iran? CIA? Saudis? I don’t trust any of them.

During Obama there was an attempt to take Assad down, and they used chemical weapons on the people, and blamed Assad. That pic of McCain with those REBELS (ISIS?) always bothered me, and he was behind O Drama on the taking down of Assad.

Maybe trying to get Trump in trouble with ALL of them.??? I don’t know, but it seems odd to me. Israel may bomb, but chemical weapons, no, I don’t think so.

Agree. No way Israel uses chemical weapons. It would be crazy for Assad to use them too. He was winning over there without them. Why invite attacks from the USA and Europe? That would defy logic.

My neighbors aren’t fighting.

But you're content to know their family members might be sent off to fight and die in Syria to ease your flimsy, lefty, weakling's sense of guilt.

Got it.

I'm sorry, you were so busy attacking me, I didn't quite catch your actual position on this topic. Or do you have any thoughts at all? I said we shouldn't stand by and watch people kill themselves. And you said.....
